The GT500 isn't built to compete with the Corvette around a Road Course or slalom. But Ford did make a statement, and GM stepped in their own dicks with the new Camaro.

Sorry if the following links are reposts!

Keep on smiling and keep on !!!
Those links don't really say anything earth shattering. The first one comes off as a blatant brand loyalist, which is not surprising considering the website. He references one time that Ford overrated their hp number on the Stang and then fixed it, and admits they learned their lesson by underrating the 03 Cobra.

The new GT500 will make at least 650 hp, you can bet on it.

the new gt500 is the real freaking deal. it was recently dyno'ed... and the motor put out north of 670 hp.... what ford pretty much did was drop in a new SC that was already available as an option for 2012... and with the 5.4 motor it cranks out @670. now add .4 liter, way more boost, and you have atleast 560 rwhp... bet on this

TVS was never an 'option' , was sold thru Ford Racing but could have been dealer installed. Save your time

I honestly don't know if it is or isn't. The 202 mph top speed seems to be important to the person I was responding to, though I don't know why, other than to make a headline.

I have no idea what you mean about the camaro. The ZL1 appears to be a nice car.

The ZL1 is an overweight, oversized pig. My 130k mile LS1 C5 made the same power with just headers and a Procharger and would have creamed it in everyway.

The Camaro is the ugliest of the 3 pony cars, and damn near the heaviest. GM only has their re-treads. While Ford is coming out with new and exciting things, GM is

While your C5 might be quicker (a lighter c5 running very likely more boost w/o emission requirements better be), based on the very fast Nurburgring time, I seriously doubt your claim that your old c5 "would have creamed it in everyway".

Has Ford released the new GT500 ring time? They were testing it there last june.

I can not come up with any "Ring "times for the 2013 GT500, just a few articles regarding the car being there. BTW the Ford GT recorded a 7:40.6 time according to Octane magazine ,not Ford

Maybe you're confusing the fact that there are some tuners out there that will install a 2.3 TVS on a '12 (or any other year) to make more power. Ford never had an option for it though.

No one can dispute the performance advantage the GT500 will have over the ZL1, but chevy will stomp them in sales just as they have been since the new 5th gen entered the market. Plus the ZL1 will appeal to more folks since it comes with an auto. Doesn't sound like they've been sleeping to me.

Default Moving Right >>>>!

It seems to me Ford has finally done what the Mustang has required to compete. Improved suspension leading to better handling and an improved power plant makes it a strong contender given the right driver.
I do beleive in the next 2-4 years you will see further improvements making it a very strong competitor. Of course, just my opinion.

oops sorry guys, had a long weekend...

heres where i got the 670+ hp

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...24-post47.html

Im still looking for the other answer...

might have been a crate motor, and not an option but either way, same results...

dont discredit what I said on a technicality

the 5.8 with tvs 2.3 will put down what is says + more...

When you are fundamentally wrong it is hardly a technicality.

well my point wasnt that whether if it was an option or not. my point was that the motor they are dopping in the new 13 gt500 will infact have what it is advertising and probably more.... the evidence is there, whether it is a crate motor, or a ford racing add on, whatever it is, its been proven

like someone saying, "they dropped the LSA out of a CTSV into a ZL1, but we still have to wait to see if it puts down atleast 560 crank HP"

we its been proven the V does it, what more proof do you want?

If I had to choose between the 2013 ZL1 or Shelby, I'd put my money on the Shelby. I believe Ford's internals will hold up and take more boost, producing more horsepower. And stay together!

anyone who argues against this is wrong

the ZR1 is chevys equivalent to fords 5.4/5.8 motor in the shelby, fully forged internals ftw... 5.8>lsa... look at the specs
