Default WORLD RECORD R35 Nissan GTR - 9.0 @ 166 mph! Alpha 12 by AMS

Amazing car!

Infro from AMS:

"Recently we took our updated ALPHA 12 to the track to do some more testing. As of recent, the limits of the factory block had been reached and our engineers went to work to devise a new way of reinforcing the engine. To prove our new method, we knew we had to put the updated ALPHA 12 package through a series of Grueling tests. The car was placed on the dyno for over three hours in 100 plus degree heat where it produced over 1300whp at 35 psi of boost.

Upon completion of dyno testing we took the car to our local drag strip where the weather was not much more favorable. Scorching sun, 90 degree track temps, a density altitude of 2745 and high humidity proved to produce very slick conditions. Still we agreed that the package had to be placed through the most brutal of conditions to ensure the integrity of the new ALPHA 12 package.

It was at the track our Special Projects Technician, Ivan Phipps subjected the GT-R to no less than 10 drag passes. The car was run over and over again producing times in the 9.0 to 9.2 range and all over 160mph.

The ALPHA 12 GT-R was spinning all four tires all the way through 4th gear on every run and not getting 100% traction until fifth gear. Even in these conditions the AMS ALPHA 12 GT-R was able to reset the ET And MPH with a 9.052@166.66 pass.

During that pass, our V-box recorded a verified 60-130mph time of 3.46 seconds making it one of the fastest accelerating street cars ever recorded."

AMS just went 8.9X in it yesterday. Ivan is a drivin' ****! They had their open house last weekend back here in IL. Good times.

...and that guy doesn't want to race this guy, who went 246mph in the TX mile in the exact same car. OEM 6-speed trans, too. Remember, there is always someone faster.

7.72 at 186 MPH as a steet legal car is insane! (and faster than the Supra!)

It just goes to show you that an engine is like an air pump - the larger the displacement, the greater the potential for more power.

This isn't about a Vette, Viper or Supra for that matter. This thread is about the GT-R's achievements. And just to let you know there are cars with smaller motors faster than that Viper not to mention the Supra trapped 5 mph higher than the Viper did. Just sayin'

Going fast has so much more to do with the entire car not just the power level under the hood. You can have the same car with identical power, weight etc etc except gears and still have different 1/4mile times.

Exactly. The other thing is posting vids of other cars in this thread is stupid. One car did an accomplishment kudos to that car.

...and bragging about a GTR in this forum seems to be a daily occurance. This explains why vids of faster cars are being posted. I have no doubt that posting vids of superfast Honda Civics in a Honda forum wouldn't result in the same thing. .....just explainin to yah.....

Kind of. In forced induction engines, the power output is usually limited by what the turbo/supercharger can support anyway. Doesn't matter if it is a V8, V10, or whatever.

Well this is the other cars section. Lets not forget about the numerous threads on Mustangs in this section. Somebody sounds a little jealous.

All other things being equal, the larger the displacement, the more potential power you can extract - no exceptions. If you don't believe this, ask any drag racer who's had physics classes.

Jealous is not the word; how about tired of seeing similar posts over and over again about the same car. Remember, if you brag often enough about a car, it will be belittled by videos of faster cars. The same applies to all of us who pump iron. There will always be someone stronger who won't say anything unless you brag often. I know a woman who doesn't like to show how strong she is unless some guy announces that he can "hang with that chick, any day". In most cases, she puts him to shame. The GTR fan boys should be prepared for the faster car videos because they will be presented......

So basically you are a hater. Somebody posted a vid. No need to knock down the car. There are plenty of cars faster than the GT-R but this is the GT-R's record.
