HD V-ROD VS Victory Hammer?
Looking at buying a new bike. I have never had a v-twin and have narrowed down the field to the V-Rod and the Hammer. I like the styling of the V-Rod but the Hammers 106 cubes are hard to argue with. HD is the more known name plate and more dealers but not really sure that is that big of an issue. The V-rods 1250cc revs to 9 grand redline versus the 5.5 grand redline of the Hammer but the Hammer has about 20lbs more torque. I had open frame KZ1000's in the past so I am still sport oriented.
Has anyone had experience with both bikes?

I went to Arlen Ness' shop a couple of months ago and they make the Victory seem like a legit competitor of the HD. As a Dyna Wide Glide rider, I'll stick with mine but if I were in the market, I'd seriously consider one. Test them both and make the final decision. Have fun.

Whatever you do, don't buy them new. There are people GIVING these things away these days. Values of HD, Victory, Iron Horse, and all Custom Choppers have dropped like a rock.
A friend of mine is selling a $40k Big Dog Custom w/ a 116inch S&S, Baker 6 speed, right side belt drive, 3" open primary, etc etc. He cant get $11k for it.

I'm a HD fan myself, Own a Dyna FXDXT currently and when I decide to replace it I'll probably get another HD either a V-rod Muscle, Full Bagger or maybe even a Trike. I've riden both, The V-rod and the Vic but I've had this HD thing going back to '67, except for a '77 KZ-900 LTD which served me very well I might add but then I went back to the HD nameplate. The fit and finish on the Vic is almost the same as the V-rod or other HD's. As Chevy Guy says check out the prices on used low mileage and let someone else take the initial hit. Also check out the V-rod Muscle if you can, that might be the tie breaker if you want to feel some torque and great handling.
