Default Non-Corvette Tire Question

It's been a while since replacing tires on any of my vehicles. But now it's time for my wifes Buick Rainier to get a new pair of shoes. Two questions:

1. Is alignment necessary after getting new tires mounted? My Chevy dealer is factoring that in with their price.

2. Discount Tire is adding (optional) resetting the TPMS. From what I gather on this site regarding our Corvettes, resetting this is not that difficult as a DIY. Am I correct in that?

Thanks.

Are the old tires worn in a manner that would suggest an alignment? If not, then it is not required. If it is a suggestion and it has not been done for a while then it might need it. Again do the tires appear to be worn in a way that would suggest an alignment is needed?

This should not be an automatic procedure just because the tires are being replaced..........it's like when they automatically charged for chrome valve stems and when you protest, they tell you that the rubber ones are included free.....

If the rims with the TPMS are put back on the car in the same tire locations as they were before the new tire replacement. Then there should be no need to reset the TPMS............
