Default My 'new' daily driver.

Hi, having owned my C5 vette for nearly 5 years now, I thought it was time to get another American car for my daily drive. I eventually came across this quite unique 4th generation camaro. This is an 'euro' model having been sold new in the UK. Still left hand drive (it just would'nt be American if it was right hand drive), it has UK compliant lighting etc. 2001 model year, with incredibly only 5000 miles from new. With 3.8 V6 engine, I should get fairly reasonable MPG. Now even driving to work will be pleasurable.[IMG][/IMG]

Very nice! My first car was a '97 Camaro with the 3.8 V6. It was basically the same car except for the headlights and grill. I owned it for 8 years and it was excellent. It is very fuel efficient and has lots of torque for a V6. Be aware that these cars go through alternators about every 50k miles, and with my specific car I had to replace the spark plug wires several times due to corrosion. The engine would begin to miss when the spark plug wires needed changed. Those are just a couple weird quirks of the engine... nothing big. It must be cool to have two cars that are so rare over there; enjoy them!

Hi, thanks. You're right, it is really nice owning a car that you virtually never see another. The corvette really turns heads everywhere you go. The only time I see another is when we go to American car shows in the summer. Some shows have around 300 to 400 american vehicles, but once the show is over they all disappear. My only dilema is that to fund the Camaro I have to sell my beloved Audi TT. I have owned it for 10 years, so it will be quite a wrench. I guess over there everyone would choose the TT over the Camaro. 'the grass is greener'

Not everyone. While the TT would certainly be worth more over here, and V6 Camaros are everywhere, the TT has a stigma as being a woman's car. I think most men would take a 4th gen Camaro, especially when you factor in the price difference. It's also more reliable and much cheaper to fix over here.
