Default C5 board, please forgive me for I have sinned, I looked at GTO's again . . .

. . . as I had mentioned before, my wife just passed her first trimester and I'm counting down the months till we can no longer go places in the C5.

I just spent some time looking at 2006 GTO's with the A4 so if I wanted to drive something other than her RAV4 or my Tundra, we could take that, but then, the GTO is not even near the looker that the C5 is as I'd still be commuting in the C5 anyway.

I know it was wrong and is why I have confessed but I'm so tempted to be able to drive something 1/2 decent with the baby and my wife than either the RAV or the Tundra, I'm still torn, help me Father, for I have . . . .

You have to do with makes sense for the family - and there is nothing wrong with a GTO. Yes, it doesn't have the looks of the C5, but it can be made to run very well.

Not to mention the back is plenty big for a baby seat and as they grow. I have a very good friend with one and his kid is now 18 months old. Said it was a little painful to put the baby seat in and get it out, but other than that plenty of space.

From the sounds of your post though OP, are you keeping the C5 and getting a GTO in addition to (I ask because you mention the "not the looker but I'd be commuting in the C5 still anyway)????

Why a GTO and not a GXP? LS3, 6sp, big brakes and nice seats with 4 doors.

I owned an 04 GTO for quite a while... the backseat is only 1 step above the backseat of the Vette and is almost impossible to get in. If you are going that route, take a look at the G8. It actually has a usable back seat and still looks pretty good IMHO.

Although I will say that overall the interior of the GTO is by a LONG way better than the C5. I have spent $$$$ on the C5 trying to get the interior even close to as nice.

From one "fleet operator" to another don't do it

I need to get rid of a car so I can get the Vert out of the garage

I looked at a new GTO the otherday, too...

...in my rearview mirror.

There. You're forgiven.

I have a four month old son... and one thing I've noticed about baby travel is there's much more to lug around than a baby seat.

A stroller, even folding ones are clunky, much more than the trunk of GTO can swallow. One big azzed baby bag with formula, diapers, wipes, a thermos of hot water to mix into the bottles, spare clothes for when one gets wet/dirty, zip lock bags to put soiled junk in... some toys.

And then you have your wife's bag...

So, to be honest, that GTO is going to be splitting at the seems between all the clutter inside and the trunk if you can even fit everything.

Just keep the Corvette. Once the lil' one is here and you don't have the 'Vette anymore.... It will be harder to justify buying one with all the expenses you will soon be taking on. That's why it's mostly young guys that own them, or older people that wait until the kids have grown.

I feel lucky I still have my Zo6. It's my ticket to fun street driving by myself or with a friend. God Bless my Corvette.

If he wants to be in the price range of an 06 GTO I'm sure the CTS-V wouldn't be a thrifty decision.

04 and 05 CTS-V's can be had for low 20's if not upper teens, so it's not too far out from the GTO.

I vote for the CTS-V as well. In fact, my wife is three months pregnant as well and I have a CTS-V and she just traded her Accord Coupe for a 2010 Audi A4 sedan...so now we have two baby mobiles...and a Corvette!

Oh I was thinking of the modern beast CTS-V not the previous gen since I recall the previous gen CTS-V supposedly wasn't quite as good as the base current gen base CTS.
