Default cheap classic cars?

I've got about 5500 dollars and i'm looking for a nice classic car pre 1980.

What kinds can i get for around 5500 that would be cars that run and drive good, and have pretty good bodies and interiors?

meaning, a car that does not need anything more then a couple hundred more to make it into a good car.

thanks

Chevy, Ford, VW??? What's your preference?

Further down the page there is a real nice 1980 RX-7 I would consider, it's well within your price range

Check out racingjunk.com

They have a bunch of very low priced classic cars, just don't expect numbers matching and blemish free for that money, but I guess that goes without saying.

I know this is a little more than the money that you're talking about, but back in 2005 I bought this car for $6900. It's a 1970 Buick Skylark with a numbers matching 350. The car only had 29,000 miles on it, and it was in great shape except that the interior had a bad smell so I had to change the upholstery. I only spent about $1000 extra on it overall. It really was a great car for the money but I ended up selling it for $10,000 in 2007. You might be able to find something similar for around $5000 or $6000 if this is the kind of car that you like.

The '75 Trans Am posted below your message looks like it may be a good possibility for $3,500.
