What are your opinions, or what other suggestions would you have? Notice I'm not baller like most CFOT members, so keep that in mind if making a suggestion.
M3 if it is your only car. If it is your weekend toy then get the Vette or the Lotus. Lotus may be more fun and very reliable with the Toyota powerplant.
I am thinkin you should go test drive a C5Z! That would be the best bang for the buck. I can't touch a lotus or bimmer......repairs and service would bust you in the yamm sack! You can pick up a super clean sweet C5Z in the low 20's all day long.

I had a C5Z in the past. If you are trying to scare me about repair costs, I'm not much more afraid of the BMW breaking and costing money than I was about the 500 dollar headlights with ****ty motors going out on the C5, the LED backlight on the climate controls going out, or any other myriad of different problems I had with it.
I highly doubt I would consider another C5, despite loving the car itself....just too many problems.

A laundry list of problems with it, and the value is dropping fast it seems. No dealer will give me more than 14k for it, but I've already had a couple bites in just a day at the private sale on Autotrader.
I'd rather get out from underneath it while I still can and not have to take it to the dealer constantly.
In the last two weeks (this and last) the car spent 3.5 days at the dealer getting various fixes.
I'm not so unhappy with it though that if it doesn't sell I will be pissed.

I can't stand these ignorant statements...
Chevrolet has less than 2% more issues per vehicle than Toyota, according to this study. Of course this whole study proves that stereotypes about reliability are ridiculous, since there's under a 100% spread from best to worst... at even at 100% that means one more issue. Whoopdy-do. So if I get a Lexus I only have to take it in once in my ownership for an issue, if I get a Mini I have to take it twice. OH NOES MINI IS TERRIBLE. Not.
Get what you want, and what you will have fun with. Don't get a Lotus for reliability, hahaha. Sure it's a 'yota motor for whatever that is worth... but it's still British everything else (coming from a guy w/ a Land Rover).
Well I can post three pages of service history on my CTS-V.
Yup. That's what I'm trying to get at. Every specific car is different, and at best we can generalize about a particular year of a specific model. Like '04 CTS-Vs have issues, so do '06 IS250s, etc etc etc.
So anyway, back to your questions...
What do you need the car to do for you? Is it a DD? Does it have to deal w/ snow or anything (I didn't look to see where you're from)? Is it your only vehicle? Do you think you'll need seats for more than 2? Will you track it (if so, 1/4mi, AutoX, Road Course, all of the above)? And of course the big one: how much do you want to spend?

I just said it would be more fun and very reliable. I didn't say it was any more or less reliable than the Corvette. I was just trying to say that it was not a piece of British garbage like they used to be. The rest of the car is so plain that there are very little problems with them due to the Lotus side of things.
To the OP: Go with the M3 since you are biased against the reliability of the Corvette based off your Cadillac. There are very few people that are disappointed with M3s and the resale values are great. Let us know what you do.

DD, no snow, my wife has an 09 G8, it could have one seat if I wanted a car with one seat, I doubt I'll go to the track. I want to try to stay around 25k or below as you can see (with the exception of the Lotus).

Elis is a very reliable car indeed. I know a guy who already has 30K on his car and zero issues. The services are still very expensive for some reason.
