Default Rat Rod 40 Chevy PU candidate?

I can pick up a 40 Chevy PU for $1600 or less. Any thoughts on this model for rat rod? My desire is to lower the front end, maybe remove fenders, big white walls on painted rims, channel body down over frame, make interior nice, make it drivable and safe, leave everything else alone. I've restored several vettes and other cars but I'm weak but willing on welding skills. Any thoughts on this adventure?

That truck will work great. For 1600 if not too rusty and good frame i'd take it in a sec. If you are going to do a "real" rat rod. Loose the entire front clip. Chop and channel. Take off the rear fenders. Find a cool radiator and headlights. Leave it rusty or flat black.

I'm also looking for a canidate for a new rat rod. Leaning towards a Model A, but also checking out some trucks. They are cool, fun projects that you can usually build very cheap, and if you do it right, you can usually flip for close to double your money.
