Default I cant stop thinking about this car....

This is on my friends lot, they are awful slow but beautiful.

http://www.thomasclassics.com/temps/...rchvkid=435543

To buy this I would have to part with my C5, if I want to stay married. I'm torn, can swing both but wife wants more land and a new house.
If I get rid of the Vette what the heck do I ask for it? I know I will never recoup all the blood, sweat, and money in this thing. Where to start on price? The economy sucks, but not for everyone. So, I know there is someone out there that can appreciate my car. My friend offered to sell it for me he just asked me how much I wanted for it.

Heres a list of mods:
1997 42,600 miles
Tuned with Hp Tuners
PLX wideband permentally installed. You can add an AFR gauge and plug it directly into a tuning program.
The wires are already ran inside the car. The wideband has a nice clean install.
AFR 12.80 at wide open
Has a real world drive ability tune with spot on AFR at cruise and wide open throttle.

LG Street series headers, off road version
B&B Catback with speedway tips
rear 02 sensors moved to front.

Vararam , new style with green filter
LS-6 intake
2004 valley cover to update PCV system
CCA catch can
99 and newer center bolt valve covers with new gaskets

Comp Cam 228/230 .588 .592 on 112 LSA
Patriot dual springs, Ti retainers, hardened seats, new seals
Comp cams Hi Tech pushrods
LS7 lifters
roller rockers
ARP head studs
5.3 L ported and polished heads with 2.02 intake 1.57 exhaust valves, all new "706" castings
GM MLS head gaskets
36lb Bosch injectors
160 thermostat
MSD wires
TR6 plugs

New serpintine belts, AC and Alternator, New belt tensioner.
Air tubes deleted and air pump removed. Still have all of it, goes with car.

B&M Trans cooler, trans runs nice and cool.
Yank SS3200 stall
3:42 gears, new seals, didn't need them. I figured while it was out may as well replace them.

C6 Z-06 wheels 17/18
Nitto Extreme Drag radials

Mobil one oil and filter, changed every 2,000 miles. Fresh radiator coolant, fresh gear oil in diff., Fresh tranny fluid.

I ran it opening day at the track, 3 passes. The very first pass was an 11.89@117.55 mph with a 1.79 60' at 1200'
If it would dead hook I'm sure it would run sub 11.40

Perfect street manners by anyone's standards, drives like any factory vette until you get on it. Its a little loud, this may turn off some. people.

Go ahead, fire away.

You only live once so why not treat yourself (as long as it doesn't put you in the poor house). That is why I got my Vette and did what I did to it As far as price goes...just guessing, Kelly Blue Book plus 5k maybe for the mods???? Everything has a price and is for sale in this world it's finding the right buyer and don't believe you have to give it away.

What should I ask for the Vette, if I decide on that car? I wish my wife wanted to stay in our house. She wants a house so big we would never go or use the upstairs. I cant get her away from this house she wants. She weighs 98 lbs, I told her we dont need a house that big. We're just not communicating.....

NIce looking Challenger, if it is what you want ,,buy it! As far as what your car is worth? Like you said the economy is not in the best shape right now but if someone wants a vette there going to buy it as well...Being a 97 with low miles it should be worth 16-19 range? Just guessing, hope you can get more for it!

I have looked at the new Challenger first hand and I have to tell you, It is a nice looking car on the outside, But on the inside forgetaboutit. It is heavy, It is slow, Watch the video from Top Gear when they tested it with the ZR1 and the CTS-V, I like the looks of the car on the outside, But I like my Vette inside and out and it will out perform a Challenger all day long.

Forget all those other mods you have listed. That right there is what anyone buying the car is going to be interested in. Run that on NADA and KBB and you'll see what your car is worth.

I had close to $20,000 in mods to my '04 Z16 and ended up getting about $1,000 more than book value when I sold it...and let me tell you, I had it for sale for a while.

I like the Challeger and hope you can find your way into one! Cool looking cars!

Hardest part I'm having right now is finding my way back to my thread. How in the heck could this thread not been C5 related? Three sentences about a Challenger, 52 about my Corvette. Anyway, my friend has buyers for cars like mine. If you check out the web site he sells some pretty cool stuff.

Dude, how can let go of a beautiful C5 for a challenger?

I know their cool looking and all, but you will miss your vette.

I'm planning to add a camaro in the future but NOT at the expense of loosing my vette.

The C5 is faster, much better on gas, and handles light years better than any Challenger.

I would keep the C5 and get something that won't break the bank, yet is still fun to drive. 4000-lb vehicles are rarely fun to drive on anything but straight roads.

Matt just give in and let the wife buy something she wants other than the house and have both lol.
You wont be happy with the Challanger Matt, not after the WS6 you had then the Boxter now the Vette.
Like others have said the challanger looks great but you would have to drop alot of coin in it to have the performance you want..

I'll give you 10k for you car.
Josh

A car that runs 4.8 to 60 and the quarter mile at 13.3 is "slow"?

Yes a car that runs 13.30's is slow. especially when it is the top of the line model with the most horse power available.

The lowly 4th Gen F-bodys could sneak into the 12.90's bone stock. and they were only a 305 HP car that ran just over 20k. not the 42k that the Challanger is.

The challanger hit the nail on the head with the styling they just are too damn heavy to be worth a damn.

i like the new challengers, inside and out. the one and only challenger that I sat in had a great, subtle leather aroma.

I like 'vettes more, but thats just me, so GO FOR IT!

Do what you like, but you can get a brand new one for < $42k and incentivised financing. Your friend owns that car for +/- $37k, or he's in it way too deep.

remember the 90's when breaking into the 13's with modded cars was damm fast now people scoff at factory stock cars running low 13's. While I probably wouldnt rade or Sell my C5 for a challenger I respect it's performance esp with the heft it carries around. But i would consider trading A C5 for one if i needed the room, if not i would wait till i could own both.

The Challenger is cool, reasonably fast, good looking, and about to be very rare. Sure, the vette performs better and is a more beautiful car, but the Challenger is special. I say go for it, but I'd work that price hard. $41 is too much IMO.
