Stopped by the local Nissan dealer just to check things out. ( I am a previous 350Z owner ) Beautiful black GTR sitting in the show room. I really like this cars attitude the wheels and brakes are beautiful, as is the all wheel drive. Well the shock came when I glanced at the sticker and saw a $10 grand dealer markup, WTF! Ask if they have any any interested parties and I was told no. In this economical climate these guys are really acting like used car sharks. Any who I laughed and walked out but I admit I turned around one more time to view the GTR.
I'm not surprised. At any given time, like right now, there are Chevrolet dealers with new one, two and even three model year old Corvettes sitting on their lot. If they don't know their market, you will see the dealer disappear. Hasn't happened much in the past, but it's starting now.

Have you checked the price on a ZR-1 lately??.....minimum of $10k over sticker. I'm not saying a GTR is the equivalent of a ZR-1,but it is(or was) a hot ticket item.
I am also a former 350Z owner but have not seen the GTR in person. Based on its relatively inexpensive MSRP for what you get I think a 10k mark-up is not bad and people will pay it. I am not crazy about its looks but as I said that is based on pictures.
It will be interesting to see how the reprogramming (to reduce RPMs on "launch control") affects the car's performance and what effect the reduced performance will have on selling prices. All cars, including those on dealer lots will receive the new programming.
Word is the GTR's exterior was designed by three separate design studios then slapped together...and it looks it. Reminds me of Linda Lovelace of "Deep Throat" fame - great performance but who cares?

In ANY economy there are still folks with $$$ to buy luxury items/toys. I'm sure they are hoping to find the few hundred willing to pay a premium for just such a toy. ZR1's fall into this same category.
More power to them if they can get someone to part with that kind of money.
Of course I'm not the buyer these folks are looking for.
Well in person I really don't think it's all that bad looking. IMO the car has Balls so to speak. Not sure if I'd call it a sports car though. How about a catch me you can coupe.

I felt the exact same way based on pictures... but I thought it looked a lot better in person when I finally saw one. Not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination... but a LOT better in my mind than when I had only seen pics.
I prefer the older r33 imo...the r34 was ok but looked big, now this r35 is huge! That being said, it's better in real life than in pictures online and in the mags. Don't think I'd buy one if I could afford it (I can't) but it's not too bad looking in real life, plus it goes like hell and I won't argue that, regardless of the make.
There were almost as many posts talking about price and performance as there were comments about the cars' terrible appearance.
THE DAY THEY PUT A BACK SEAT IN THE CORVETTE IS THE DAY THEY'VE LOST ME AS A 40YEAR BOWTIE FAN !!!!!!:
