McLaren's elusive P11 has moved from rumor to reality with these photos of the first prototype, shot during cold-weather testing in Sweden by Brenda Priddy's spy shooter network. Priddy says the P11 is tentatively scheduled for an introduction later this year, with production beginning in 2010, and is McLaren's replacement for the SLR.
After driving an SLR McLaren for a day I can say is
Cant wait...even if it doesn't have to do with Vettes...

In my opinion the F1 McLaren is the greatest supercar ever to date.
I may be off a little, but the F1 came out around 1995 which was before the Enzo and similar supercars.
It was around 2500 lbs, naturally aspirated, 0 - 60 in 3.2 and a top speed of 240 back then! Not to mention it still looks great.
All other supercars are trying to bridge the gap in my opinion.
This new car will not be anything close to it. Comparing it to the F430 is nothing big. F430 performance is far from the F1. Excluding the Scuderia, the base modle F430 doesn't even out perform and Z06.
In the February 2009 issue of Road & Track, European correspondent
Ian Adcock found out through a "source close to the project" that the
chances of the new McLaren using a Mercedes powerplant — such as
with the current Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren — were slim: "AMG were
reluctant suppliers to the SLR program and don't want to get involved
with McLaren Automotive again," said the source. This, despite the
obvious McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 partnership.
A previous P11 test mule was supposedly using a Nissan/Infiniti IndyCar
powerplant — meaning a full-on race engine and gearbox. Obviously,
that won't be the car's production source for power. Rumors continue
to swirl as to what engine will actually end up in the back of the P11,
some suggesting it could still be sourced from Mercedes. In a new
twist, we heard McLaren is even considering a hybrid drivetrain.
