:What kind of job straight out of college do you plan to have to pay you the coin to afford a $100K car, let alone a $175-200K car??
So you just graduated from high school, and plan on being able to afford a $150,000 car in under a half decade? .... Knew you were from Cali even before I looked.
work just won't cut it at the $200K level..
Guess my sister could swing one since think she was offered her
first doctor job at about $375K...still even at that salary it's
not really viable solely because of maintenance costs.
In her case though it's taken years..to be exact 10 years of
training beyond the 4 year bachelors degree..so 14 years total.
Realistically think someone needs to be worth about 10-20 Milliion
to step into the Lambo/Ferrari $200K thing..sure there are some
exotics at 1/2 or even 1/4 of that price...relatively affordable..
but the maintenance/repairs are still so potentially huge that
they make ownership a somewhat risky proposition.
If you have a need for speed get a C5 Z06 now($20K).. and get it out
of your system so you can focus on school and not on cars
that are designed and priced like they're pieces of modern art.

I've been trying to decide between getting a Lambo Reventon or Ferrari Enzo. Now, with this being a corvette site, I could get a ZR1 for every day of the week, but frankly, the thought of spending the extra time at the DMV to register 7 cars instead of just 1 is a deal breaker for me.

I'm really not trying to player hate, but it's kinda silly to expect that kind of money to just pop up straight out of college. Unless you or your parents are sitting on tons of money, this thread is pretty pointless. I'm 27, I have a C6, and I think that's pretty damn lucky. It looks like you have a C5 and that's pretty impressive at your age too. If you're actually picking between Lambos and ZR1s when you're still in your 20's then I'll give you props, but you're not there yet.

Before you get too deep into the decision process, DRIVE both cars. Check our comfort (do I fit in it?), controls (how stiff is the clutch?), safety (can I see to back up or change lanes?), etc.
If an exotic dealer won't play ball, there are driver events where you can go in a group and take turns sampling a Ferrari, Lambo, half-million dollar Porsche, McLaren Mercedes and so on for maybe a grand for the day.

Right now Lambos of any vintage have less downside risk than most "investments". Not many are made, and there will always be enough rich people to take a clean one off your hands for close to what you paid for it.
