Default Anyone Own a 2004 Nissan Altima 3.5?

I purchased a used one a few days ago and really like this car for my DD/Commuter car. I hear the 3.5L V6 is very trouble free from the local dealers ... are they blowing smoke?

Only thing that seems strange on the car is the heater temp control knob feels "spongy" when you turn it, but it seems to work OK. Maybe that's just the way they are.

This Altima only had 18,400 miles, clean CarFax and all service records from the original owner. Pretty happy with the deal.

The 3.5 is a VQ series engine. They have been one of the best, most trouble free motors ever built. They started life as a 3.0 and now are all the way up to a 3.7

You will have lots of trouble free miles ahead.

You already bought it, does it matter?

Like everyone else stated, it's a very good motor!

I was looking for one as a dd too but could not find a 5 speed. They have about 260hp. Now I need to make sure the job situation is ok. I might get a early retirement offer...............

The major trouble spots for that year have been electrical and brakes. Overall, it has had average reliability, but believe me, you could've bought far worse a vehicle.
