Default Just bought a Hayabusa...WOW!

Never had a sportbike before; always rode cruisers. I thought the Z was quick; the 'Busa is unbelieveable! It's just as thrilling as the 'Vette - probably more risk, though.

I wonder how they would match up if pitted against each other - on a track of course.

Anybody else have a Z/sportbike combo?

Well if it’s a track where you turn left and right, just what the Z was made for. The Z will walk away from it. The busa is fast in a straight line, but its way to heavy for a road course. I have a 08 Z and Ducati 1098s, but I like turning left and right

As I recall a couple stock Busas went hi 8s at around 165 mph with a pro-racer at the helm.. It'll pull on the Z like the Z would pull on Nissan Maxima..

There are not to many fast sports cars or even super cars that will outrun the average superbike in a straight line. If you put an average rider on an average sportbike it will take the Z06 and Zr1 on a track as well. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Both are great in their own ways.

08 ZX10R here. by the way, the Z06 will outrun just about any street bike (Ducati included) on a road course.

Hi Chet, Larry here. Congrats on your new bike. Guess we won't be seeing you with the Z06 at the track anymore as you will be racing the Busa!

Like KLLRVET said above the bikes will usually be slower on a road course.

You are familiar with the Barber track. It was really built more for bikes than cars but the lap record for a car is 5 seconds faster than the lap record for a bike.

Oh by the way, I have a Vrod. That is kinda like a sportbike wannabe that needs to diet. It is a pretty decent bike to ride. It will smoke any stock Harley air-head.

Be safe on that thing, Larry.

Had a v-rod then moved up to a BMW K1200s. Just sold it as the cell-phone dummys were taking aim at me way too many times. That plus the old farts here on the Cape and your odds suck on 2 wheels.

Santa came to Scotland too - Here's what he brought me

Took it a run down the coast on Christmas day - stopped here at the Ayrshire town of Girvan, looking ot towards 'Ailsa Craig'

I came from a 2006 GSXR 1000. That bike made the Z feel like a honda civic. Stupid fast. Yeah, maybe on a road course the Z would be quicker...MAYBE depending on the rider, but on the highway there's no Z would be able to keep up one with a good rider. I lovvvvvvved that bike but holy hell was it dangerous. The Z is my civilized more responsiblesolution for the wife and family otherwise I would ditch the Z in a heartbeat for another '05 or '06 Gixxer 1000. Ride one of those and it will make your busa feel like a buss also. No offense the busa is the drag king, but the top performance is the 1000's. Equal HP and 20 less torque than the Busa but it's 100 pounds lighter... do the math and you have STUPID fast.

Ever see the video's of people that know how to ride whoooping on 1000 plus HP Vette's, Vipers... etc etc...? There's a reason those things are called crotch rockets. Congrats on the buy and always wear gear, and ride safe... meaning watch the F- out for other cars.... those are the true danger out there... not the rider.

I have a Z and a kawasaki 1000. Having ridden the busa it is a lot quicker straight line. I know with me driving I am faster in the Z06 than a Bike on roadcourse. I am way too small and don't weigh enough to turn the busa properly. My z1000 is about the same in the qtr. mile as my car just barely faster.

I had a '99 and then an '04 Busa which was traded against an '06 ZX14 and then up to an '08. Also had an '05 ZX10R and an '05 R1. My 08 ZX14 is stretched 6" and the front and rear sprockets were changed to gain more punch at revs. Did some engine work and I can tell you that no stock car can outrun it or even come within a few seconds of it on the street or the strip. The ZX14/Hayabusa's are easily the fastest of all the bikes, in a straight line. I've also gone up against T-Rex's that easily out-perform a Z06 in the turns and have beat them, on the road, but I doubt I'd be able to beat a Z06 on a race track; there are riders who could though. You really have to be skilled on a bike to eat a Z06 on the track...and there's a lot more sweating involved on the bike just to keep up with a Z, on the track, not to mention the risk involved. The ZX14 and the Z06 combo works well for me, but ya, when you talk about acceleration, the Z is just a big slow pig against almost any sport bike, even a 600. It takes a lot more skill to get a bike around those turns fast against just an average rider in a Z. Enjoy your Busa...

BTW, even my big heavy Concours 14 (see pic on left) will outrun the Z06 too...LOL. With the right rider, it does 10.5's in the 1/4...and it's not even considered to be a sportbike. It weighs 140 LBS more than a ZX14 and has less power/TQ all the way through, but it wheelies like no tomorrow.

Blitzu, your GSX won't beat the Busa or the ZX14 on the strip...but it will eat them on the track. It's all about the curve and the RWTQ, and your Gixxer, like my 10R and my R1 just doesn't have it...you're talking about 80-84 LBS TQ vs 114 LBS of TQ, that happens at a touch over 6K, whereas you don't get to that 80 LBS until something around 10k...and the power curve on the big bore's are much flatter. They just have more all the way through.

The 2 favorites with drag racers are Busa's and 14's...as the 1000 Class is very hard to get into the 8's, although some have done it with mods. A lowered/stretched and piped stock ZX14 with hit 8.7's with the right rider, something the Gixxers can't without a lot of wheelies and power mods...also, top speed on the 1000's can't hit 200...and take a long time to get there, like a Z.

I think 2009 is the year I'll jump into sportbikes. I'm not experience like you, so I doubt I'll buy anything larger than a 600 (probably used). Maybe a Busa in a year or two

Your first sportbike is a Hayabusa? Be careful!

I'm with ya... the busa's and Zx14's rule the strip and the complete straight aways... but through in a few turns and the 1000 has the edge.

It's good to see another bike lover out there
You're right... a well riden 600 will take out a stock Z, and a 750 will run away, while a 1000 and anything larger will be in another zip code before they know what hits them.

Jason, nice 600! I'm guessing you probably get your fair share of road courses with it?
