He shattered the record with a 241.8. WOW that is moving! Congrats to SW that Supra just keeps getting faster each time it goes to the drag strip or the standing mile.
Lou at LG had the fastest Corvette time that I can find and congrats to him for representing the Vette community.

it would be nice to know how the supra does it, while a heavily modded twin turbo vette cant even come close
I know norms vette is the closest, but not close enough, given that car has about $300,000 spent on it, I dont think the supra has even close to that amount spent on it.

The Supra in question is a purpose built racecar. It is gutted out inside, and has a rollcage. It makes quite a bit more power than this street Corvette built by LGM. Both cars are highly impressive for what they are.
Congrats SW!

All I can say is that in addition to being a great driver and collector, SW has some big balls. I've been to the Texas mile (as a spectator). There is not a hell of a lot of room to stop a car traveling that speed.

Got this off the Supraforums. Here is a couple of Vids that Someone put up and SW's reply to about 8 pages of congratulations. I like where he says he wants to go spend some time in his Z06 driving the twisties for a change....just the opposite of what Lou at LG said
BTW they said he didn't just break the record he shattered it and a lot of the Viper guys have some catching up to do is the drift I get. At that speed everything means an extra mph or so and the Supra has the better CD than the Viper. From what I read The GTS Coupe has a CD of .35 and a frontal area of about 20.56 square feet or 1.91 square meters.
This translates to about 11% more drag for the Viper.
BTW Vids at the bottom.
Enjoy guys!

First off, thanks for all the comments. Sorry I am so late posting, I was just beat after yesterday and spent some time with the family when I got home. My wife was really happy to see me walk through the door in one piece.
My goal with the first pass was just to get it down the track and feel the car out. We had conservative boost and a slow ramp rate. I knew it went well when I hit the rev limiter at the traps. When I pulled the chute, that was the first time I actually got nervous.. yes I said it. I was using a new "Bonneville" chute and it is about 25ft long. When I pulled it, the chute went up in the air then side to side and the car moved over about 10-15ft instantly. I also felt the car moving around alot at the top end. Kean asked me if we had adjusted the suspension settings for when we were drag racing it. It turns out the front shocks were still set at full soft. Kean adjusted the suspension, we raised the rear and put on the taller slicks. Justin raised the limiter, up the boost about 2-3 lbs and that was it. On the second run, the car dead hooked and when I got into the top of 4th, it reallly started to pull. As I got it into 5th, it felt like I had another turbo kick in and it was pulling like a bitch. I usually never look at the guages, but a little past the 3/4 mile mark, I glanced at the tach, it was reading 9200 and I knew it was goning to be a good run, maybe 238 or so. I was never expecting almost 242..
My plans now are to freshen up the engine and transmission and get it back to the track and really run a good number, but for now, take some time off, spend some time with the family and give Chris, Justin and Kean time to spend with there families. I also want to get some track time with my ZO6, I have been going straight too much lately and I might have forgotten how to go left and right.
What can I say that hadn't been already said. You guys know that I own and have owned and driven alot of different cars out there and there is no other car out there that can do what these Supras can do. They are simply incredible platform to work with. That been said, you also have to have the right people to build it. I am such a lucky guy to have the best Supra builder in the world 50 feet away from me. Boost Logic has the best parts, Justin is the best tuner and there is no one that can build a car to perform and look like it a show car better than Chris. It was interesting to see the look on the TT Viper guys, TT Ford GT guys when a 14 year old Toyota just put it to them.
Again, I just want to thank all the guys at the shop for putting so much effort into making this car what it is and for going to all these events. We have accomplished alot with this car in a short time.

SW's Boost Logic supra 242 mph video at Texas Mile
It looked like a great run on the first one. I was a little concerned when I heard it hit the rev limiter on the first run, but SW had a real big smile on his face when he passed us on the return road. Congradulations on the great runs SW.

Congrats SW!
SW´s Supra has been lightened quite a bit. But it is not gutted. It weighs 3200+lbs and still has AC, power steering, and ABS
I think they were running 37 lbs boost and no nitrous on the 241.8mph run
his Supra has pegged a 1500whp dyno but that was with more boost(40+lbs) and nitrous / would have probably made 1600whp

Was it a black zo6 C6? I saw his cars Friday night about 1 week ago at Biffs hangout. Sweet ride. He had it prepped for the run.
I've known SW since high school. In fact we became great friends the night we raced my 79 T/A against his 76 T/A (I won, he he). He's always been a great friend though I haven't seen him in awhile living in different parts of the country.
I have to say though, I think he's proven what ever it was he set out to prove. He's not Chuck Yeager and he has a family. Driving 241 mph in a street car is asking for death. No matter what safety equipment he installs or wears, one gust of wind or mild upset would be the end. It's time to quit chasing that devil buddy. Don't know if you'll read this but next time I see you I'll tell you. Congrats!

Yeah, I was thinking this as well. When I read the title and watched the vid, I expected to see a Supra that had some serious aero worked into it to keep it glued to the pavement. Then, I saw a pic of a stock looking Supra and got to wondering how long before that sucker leaves the ground.
A youtube video I saw of a RX7 twirling through the air at the salt flats comes to mind.

Hey Mark, what's up? I will be in AZ next weekend after SEMA, I will give you a call. BTW, you only won that race because you put NOS on your T/A .. I'm not chasing anyone, just love to drive and go fast. Kim knew that when she married me. I will not ever live in a box, hell any of us can get run over crossing the street.
Tony, the black Supra is a hardtop, one of 18 black ones ever brought over in '95. The hardtop is about 100lbs lighter than the sports roof. My car has power steering, all the a/c components under the dash, power windows ect. We removed the passenger seat, rear seat and radio. It has a full cage, parachute system and all the safety gear needed, including a fuel cell. It weighs 3185 with me in it. I do drive it on the street some, but its definately not a gutted race car.

This supra is NOT a gutted purpose built race car, Its missing a pass. seat and thats about the main weight saver. I bet it is still close to 3300 lbs. with him in it.
Very streetable if they wanted to drive it on the street as well..
Talk about an A-1 enthusiast and driver!!! Good stuff!
The mainstream American auto mags still don't seem to give a damn about all the things modded Supras are still doing, I suppose because they don't sell much advertising for them. Oh well, this accomplishment speaks for itself, no excuses needed, the competition often has 2-2.5 times the displacement AND turbos, etc.
That video is surreal, one minute he's chatting with the track guy, seconds later he's at basicaly 242 mph!
