Viper SRT-10 vs. Z06, Viper Wins!
Yeah right. I just took a half hour drive in a 2003 Viper, and that thing was a misery to drive. Terrible. What are they charging the $85K for? I have no freakin idea! I could not find a comfortable seating position, no power seats, I could not see out, and the Viper purists will tell you its a stripped down race car, BS! You cannot drive a car fast, that is impossible to drive slow. The pedals stink! I have raced my Z06, and it is a joy to drive fast, slow, medium, and all speeds in between. I had to curve my legs to the left because of the intrusive drive train. (Hey Dodge, put the tranny in the back) This has nothing to do with favoritism, that car stinks. There is no one who can bring a valid argument to me ever again about these two cars, there is only one choice.

Actually, it is a pretty cool car. I really liked the one I had. It definately takes a little getting used to but a very cool car. If you think the heat in the Z06 is bad, you definately won't like the Viper. Sits very much like my C4's did. If you don't like a LOT of attention, you won't like a Viper. If you love creature comforts, you won't like a Viper.
Very different car but cool none the less.
In before the move.

I just bought an 08 Viper last week. Car was purchased out of town and will be delivered this Sunday. So I'm not speaking here from a lot of experience but I did get to drive it before I bought it. I also drove an 06 Viper. Difference between the 2 was night and day. Aftering driving the 06 I was ready to bag the Viper idea. After driving the 08 I totally changed my mind. More power (600HP vs 500HP), better ride (improved suspension and non-run flat tires), heat in cabin issue seems to be resolved from redesign of exhaust in 08, sounds better than 06 too. New hood design is also a big improvement over the 06. The Viper does seem to be a totally different driving experience than the Z. Not saying better or worse, just different. I plan to spend plenty of time evaluating in the days to come.

I've owned both at the same time and will say that they both have their own fan base. The Z06 is a great car, but if you want something that is different then what everybody else drives, then you get a Viper. That and the Viper gets WAY more attention then the Z06 does. That attention makes the car much less useable though. I never felt comfortable parking the car anywhere, because I'd always come out to have idiots parked next to it.
For me the Viper was always my dream car. So I finally decided to pull the trigger on it 2 years ago and what a complete let down. It was so bad that my wife went out and bought me the Z06 so I had something to play with last summer. After owning 4 Corvettes (3 C6's) I can say you can never go wrong owning a Corvette!
However will also say at the same time. When both were actually in my garage (cause the Viper was always in the shop) I would usually pick the Viper to drive.

How dare you speak those words on this forum. Well, I don't think the overall car has changed, whether 600 HP or 500 Hp, $48K or $85K. The new ones, or the old ones, they are no fun to drive, very bad driving position. Looks, they are very very cool looking cars. This was my gut reaction, I wanted to buy a new one, so I test drove the old one, you know they will not let you drive the new ones. I am saying, when I hear car mags talking about comfort in these cars, as a benny, I am thinking, "You wussies". The thing is, they were right, I have to live with this car, and I cannot live with the Viper.

Z06 and its designers. I guess you don't want anyone to like any other car, except the car you want them to like. And, you can "lol", all you want, and settle for the Viper, because, honestly, you have to "settle" if you own a Viper.

Had a 550 rwhp C6 before getting my '06 Viper. The Corvette is a much better daily driver, has more creature comforts and gadgets. The C6 is easier to get in/out of, has less blind spots, etc...
The Viper is more like an old school musclecar. No electronic gadgets, big cubes under the hood, sidepipes, stripes down the hood, and is more rowdy. It definitely gets 100x more attention than a C6 does, including the Z06. But, for that same reason, it also does not make a good daily driver.
I can appreciate both cars for what they are. I'm casually shopping for a C6Z to daily-drive, but I'll still keep the Viper too.

Why did some of you get a vette if you wanted a viper in the first place? Couldn't you have save a little more money and gotten what you wanted?
My vette gets enough attention, I don't want more and don't want to deal with the drawbacks of the viper. Good looking car, but not worth it IMO.
