does anybody know how much a 1981 280zx turbo 2 seat is worth?
Hello, i have recently acquired a "Mint" 1981 turbo 280zx and was wondering what the prices are for these cars . the beauty still has her original black paint job with tan interior and is still in great condition (all original) and just had her detailed, previous owner took excellent care of her (always garaged kept) she had about 49,9xx miles when i picked her up and now and has about 50,2xx with an automatic. the car is a 2 seater with T-tops, i will post pics later today. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Who knows? Maybe check a Nissan site? Those babies are so rare. If a big-time collector is looking for one to round out his collection, could be worth a fortune. But I figure there aren't a ton of people on a given day looking for these. Did you check eBay sales results and auto trader?

that was the first two things i did but there really arent any comparables
Double edged sword. It's so rare it should be worth a lot. But there are so few around there isn't much of a following and people haven't preserved them, so it might not be worth a lot.
I guess if you were selling take the typical strategy of high asking price in the short term in case someone's on the lookout. Then lower the price is you get no bites. Or risk a no-reserve at Barrett-Jackson.
I remember when I was a teen working as a busboy my manager had one of those 280s. He was a real womanizer with the waitresses and I'm sure the car helped a little. Ended up getting 2 women pregnant at the same time so he must be in the poorhouse by now.
My mom had a '83 T-Top 2-seater non-turbo 5-speed with 55,000 miles and sold it a few years ago. I think it went for like 7500 but I don't remember exactly.
1981
A turbocharged model (using the L28ET engine rated at 180 hp) was introduced in 1981, and was available only with a 3-speed automatic transmission. At the time of release, the 280ZX Turbo was the fastest Japanese import in the American market and was the fastest production car money could buy, apart from two exotics (the Porsche 911 SC and 928).
It looks like a nice car and I'm sure it would be worth something to the right person, but you might have to wait awhile for that specific person to come around.
