First and foremost, the c5-c6 vettes are my favorite "realistic" cars of all time, bar-none. I am only a member of this forum, I am a vette fanboy
That being said, please discuss the 335i coupe (manual) if you have driven it. Again, if you have driven it.
I can see the vette has better performance specs...
What about driver-to-road input? i.e. "the driver-machine connection"?
Comfort levels?
Overall feel? What feels better... I know the C6 is faster, but does the 335i feel better?
Pros/cons of the 335i?
I know they are not competitors, just wondering if anyone has any positive input before I make the trip the dealer.
Thanks guys!!
Wife has a 530i, we drove 2 new and 2 used BMW's (one 335i) before buying the used 530i. The 335i is a nice car, to small for what the wife wanted and not a vette by no means (performance wise). Sorry, but it also does not touch the 5 series BMW's as well. Quality,BMW I'm sure is better the GM, but personal and fun...the c6 vette is 5 times the car as any 3 series BMW (sport car wise).

My wife has a crimson 6-speed manual 335i Coupe, and I have the BlueCoupe. They are vastly different cars, but I have to say the 335i is probably my favorite 4 seater ever. Great handling, and impressive power with the twin-turbos.
They are not even similar cars, in size, performance, cost or otherwise. One is a 2 seater Coupe, the first production car to finish the ring in under 8 minutes, the other is a 4 seater that is certainly not a sports car.
How about comparing buying a Ferrari to a dual axle F350?
Now, if you were asking us to help you decide one sports car to another, say a Vette to a Porsche or a Vette to a Honda S2000 or a Vette to a Audi TT or say a Vette to a Viper, maybe, you have a real discussion.
I pity the salesmen you have been stroking over this purchase. May God help them.
Dingaling.

I had a 2000 540i MN6 Sport Package (bought used) before my C6.
IMHO, it's the best 4-door sport sedan ever built (except the M5, of course).
The manual tranny is as good as it gets.
Good power & great handling at all speeds.
After 5 years, I got bored with it, and it was time for something different......I wanted a coupe this time around.
I drove the 335i (twice) before driving the C6, and I was just about ready to order one.
The problem was, it was too similar to my 540i.
The 335i is probably the best small sport sedan/coupe available.
It does everything well.
It's very fast, tight, and an all-out blast to drive.
You can't go wrong with a 335i.
Enter the C6.
I had never driven a Vette before; but I always loved the way the C6 looked.
So, I decided to try one out.
2 words descibe my emotions the first time I put the pedal down in the Vette:
"Holy Crap!!!"
It was all over for me.....I had to have one.
There's NOTHING like a C6.

I had an E90 330i and an E46 M3 and I have driven the 335i (coupe and sedan) multiple times.
The 335 is the best 3-series car BMW has built in terms of driving manners and performance but it doesn't hold a candle to the C6 in either of those categories and it's not supposed to. 335's have had a couple of nagging issues (oil pumps and wastegates to name a couple) so the overall quality isn't what you'd expect from BMW. Interior is nice but overrated and it's not at the level some people would like you to think it is. Lexus makes a much better interior.
If I wanted a 4 seater coupe with very good overall performance and a nice interior, the 335 would be on the short list. Would I have it instead of a C6 even if the 335 had Procede, JB or any of the other performance mods? Not for a second. I traded my M3 for the C6 and it's more fun to drive then the 335.
I think that BMW's are one of the BEST driving cars!!!
I've owned a 330cic, 540i, E39 M5 and a E60 M5. I've also borrowed a 745i, E46 M3, E91 M3 and a 550i and my sister owns a 335i.
As you can tell I'm a HUGE BMW fan
Soooo.... Your comparison is really apples to oranges...
Drive em both and YOU decide! If I had to pick, I'd pick the Vette!
Rent a Corvette from Hertz for a day and then YOU decide.
The body ridgidity, and overall refinement is much greater on the BMW. It has 4 seats, also. Not as much power. That's about it. Yup, I covered it all.
The only other in depth thought I'd like to leave you with is the BMW 335 is no Corvette and the Corvette is no BMW 335.

I could not part with my 04 M3 conv. I still haven't push either car to there limit. The M3 actually seems like it handles a little better. It pulls extremelly hard above 125 mph. The only thing i don't like about the BMW is the weight. The M3 was 3750 lbs. without me in it and now its down to 3500 lbs. without me in it. It runs 12.50 @ 109.10 in the 1/4 mile on motor with a few bolt ons with stock heads cams and intake. I have an 07 c6 that weighs 3175 and ran 12.42 @ 115.24 in the 1/4 mile bone stock. Either choice is exceptional. Price wise there two high quality vehicles that are difficult to compete with.
Orange to Orange, I'm considering an Is for my next car. The Is350 does 0 to 60 in the 5.0 sec neighborhood and has a DAMN fine interrior.
I'm getting tired of the constant taunting when I drive the Vette, people really get stupid around it. I know the bmw is more of a drivers machine than the lexus, but the lex is more reliable and very nicely appointed. Reasonably priced also.
My wife has had a 335i hardtop convertible for almost a year. It is a very nice car. I just got a 2001 C5 vert. I feel lucky to have both. Although vastly different both are fun. BMW quietly does its thing. Also much more practical when hauling family. It handles well and never seems to sweat when passing, cornering or accelerating. For flat out fun driving, the C5 takes it hands down IMO. Sensory gratification and pure performance on the road (especially curvey desert roads) with the top down is the best form of therapy I know. Vette gets better gas mileage also.

Even though the e92 coupe is a 2+2 and the C6 is a two seater, I think they are very comparable in terms of interior volume, etc. The biggest differences I notice when driving them are:
Visceral sound and pull of LS-3. Even though the N54 in the e92 is an outstanding engine, and if "chipped" can push 400 HP and 400+ ft-lbs, it's still a freakin six banger. You simply can not replicate the fun of gunning a C6 in a 6 cylinder car.
Exterior design - I love the design of the e92 coupe. Although the design of the C6 is an eye catcher, I can't stand the SUV wheel wells. The e92 looks like it came out of a high end design studio.
Seats - hands down, the BMW. More adjustable and more support.
Steering - BMW. Great connection to road and response to inputs.
Transmissions - I'd call it a wash. Even though the BMW M6 is much less notchy, it has a very long throw and is somewhat rubbery. I think the C6 with the MGW shifter is the best bet.
Interior style - much closer than you'd think, especially with the 4LT, but bottom line the BMW uses better material and just feels classsier.
Ergonomics - this one may shock you, but I think the C6 is better. Other than the idiotic cruise control and complicated lighting control, I have found the ergonomics on the C6 to be superior. Having the HUD is a big +. I especially like little things like being able to surf through stations on XM one at a time (rather than just by presets) when pushing the button on the wheel, and you can readthe radio display with polarized sunglasses on, which you can't do in the e92.
Practicality - C6 wins. Even though it only seats two, it has over 20 cu ft of storage space, can get over 30 MPG on the highway and is very reasonable to insure.
Refinement - e92. It's quieter, mainly.
Fun factor - Not close. See above about V8 vs 6...plus you're three latches away from open air driving anytime.
I would have bought a 335 coupe if it hadn't been for the HPFP debacle. Can't say I'm disappointed in my decision!
