I just ran Viperdays this weekend at VIR. One of the dodge designers had his ACR out in the advanced group. Holy crap it's fast. It was 95 degrees and he was running 2:04s on Michelline Pilot Sport Cups. Track was super greasy and the comp coupes in the race were only turning 1:58s.
The car was amazing... but Dodge has no money to go test on the ring. I'd love to see a ACR and ZR-1 go head to head.
The ZR1's suspension seems to work great at the Ring. I don't know if the Vipers stiff set up will handle the ring, especially when the car was not set up for it. No doubt those sticky ass tires will help it though.
I'd say the Viper would edge the ZR1 on other tracks but the ZR1 will have it's number on the ring. Also, there is definitely some more time left on the table with the ZR1. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit sub 7:20 with a pro driver and better conditions.
I'd guess the ACR could hit better time. Somewhere in 2-3 second range.
Will Dodge run the ring for time ? I say no.
Do you really think you are going to get an unbiased opinion here? 2-3 seconds faster, just like you said, but nobody will admit it. Forget the ring, make a post putting the ZR1 against a Top fuel dragster in the 1/4, or a NASCAR on an oval, and people will pick the ZR1 no use arguing Brand loyalty is getting pretty bad here.

Your post will be compleately ignored(unfortunately) by the "Brand Loyal Blinders"
^ I know .... yeah Dodges claimed 600 is on the low side, they are laying down 550ish stock and show nice gains w/ headers, no tuning is currently available.
It will be interesting to see what ZR1s dyno at. The cars weigh the same. The Z06 has a more advanced suspension but not necessarily better. The Z06 has superior brakes longevity wise, but unsure about actual stopping ability as the Vipers setup w/ stoptech rotors is very very very stout. Aero goes to the Viper.
Yeah the ACR will beat it around the track. That's what it's made for. I mean you can get it with no stereo system, that's pretty serious stuff. I wish they did take it to the ring though. I would like to see what it does around the ring.
What is the ACR's top speed? It should rip up the corners on the Northloop, but might the great aero aids not hamper top speed and stunt the lap time just a little?
Yea but will it sell like the Zr1? Are people waiting in droves to get the ACR like they are the ZR1?
What does that matter?
I think everyone should continue this conversation when both cars run together on the same track in the same conditions. To many "what if" conversations that will result in 5-7 pages of I like this car more than this car. Throw this on the back burner and lets give it a few weeks.

I was at VIR as well last weekend. The best time I posted was a 2:07.9 and the ACR was 3-4 seconds faster than me each lap. I was on slicks and he was on street tires (if you can call them that). Also I have to give a lot of the credit to the driver. I don't care what you call the car, ZR1, ACR, GT3, GTO, whatever, someone has got to wheel that thing.....
^ Yeah Ralph can really drive. Apparently is one of Dodge's head designers and is responsible for the ACR, 300C, and the new Ram that he had there towing the ACR. All great looking cars.
Ralph is on the right in this picture... he was handing out the trophies.

Dodge is making under 400 of them, they are all sold out, and if you think people are waiting in droves to pay over 100k for a corvette in this economy, you are greatly mistaken. People were waiting in droves for the 65k Z06 when it came out, much different story with the ZR1, regardless of its stock performance, I don't see many Z06 owners trading their cars in for the ZR1. I do see allot of standard C6 owners getting the bodykits
He'd better do it, quick before Chrysler stops selling the Viper. Then again, maybe that's why they haven't tried.
What does this have to do with viper vs acr? You should just try not clicking threads with the name viper in it.
Anyways I think it would be close between the two. I think the viper would handle better but the Zr1 might have a little more speed in the straights. I think the ACR could beat a 7:26 tho.
