Default How do I get a new FOB reprogrammed?

I have a Lexus RX300 (2000) that my wife lost ONE FOB, and the other one is a real POS.

I know if i go to Lexus they are like 200 some bucks each. I can find the FOBs online easily enough, but once I get them....what do I do next?

thanks in advance

Check your manual... some cars have programming instructions in them others need to be done by a dealer. I would look for fobs on ebay and then program (or have them programmed)

Good Luck

I just bought a new GM remote for my 2000 Escalade on Ebay...used the instructions at www.programyourremote.com
I believe the website has instructions for most any remote...programmed mine in about a minute...I believe the dealer wants $50.00 to do this...

I hear about "cutting" the keys as well...I want to get a WHOLE new assembly basically cuz the casing stinks...and I know the FOB inside I can't trust at this point. Is that something I need to have done by the dealer? Or is basically EVERY key for a particular car cut the same...its just the FOBs that are different?

Not sure if I'm using the terms correctly....thanks for your help!

some keys have a resistor inside...others have one one the key (like my C5) but the 2000 Escalade did not...it took a standard key...you just want to be sure who it is that's cutting your key...I took my cadillac key to a locksmith and they only charged me $2.00 out the door...my Esky key is cut on both sides...
