Default Thoughts on BMW 645

Hey I am looking to get a sportscar in about 2-3 months. I am asking you guy's opinion on the 645 because Corvette people have good taste and know cars. Now with all that out of the way what do you guys think about the 645?

I am looking for possible alternatives to a vette.

Give me some pros and cons please.

Thanks

The BMW 645 is one hell of a car. Due to its high price, it must be compared with the C6 Z06. So it is 2005 BMW 645ci vs 2006 C6 Z06.
Then it comes to what are you looking for. What are your criteria?

I will write only about my favorite, performance.
There is pretty much no contest:

BMW is way heavier, 3781 lbs vs 3132 lbs.
BMW has way less power, 325 HP vs 505 HP
BMW has way less torque, 330 lbft vs 470 lbft

I am not sure about the price, but you should be able to get a used 2006 Z06 with about the same money.

BMW 645 is a good driving car, but has a lot cheap touches in the interior and IMO, it is not very attractive. Good luck!!

If you do not want a Corvette, but still something sporty, you should go for a Mercedes SL.....nice interior and fair power.

My neighbor has a 6 series convertable (645i?) and he loves it. I think it's a great looking car but I prefer the coupe version. The M6 is awesome but about 100k. I don't think the C5 or C6 competes with the 6 series. I consider the Vette a sportscar and the 6 series more of a GT or luxury coupe like a SL Mercedes or Lexus SC.

You guys have some good points. I think I will probably just go with the vette. I think that if I went with the 645/650 I would miss the power and sportscar agility of the vette.

Thanks to all

Well, for most people that havent driven one, let me say the 645 is a beast, its a gorgeous car and the sport and luxury combined are unmatched. I just test drove one the other day and may be working out a deal to buy it, OBVIOUSLY I am keeping the vette. But really there is no comparison, the bmw is a better built car in all aspects anyone that dis agrees with that doesnt know much about cars. But the vette is a great performer that looks fantastic....and i wouldt sell it..

The 645 is NOT the 650 , Ive driven both ( the 645 coupe very extensivly ) and can tell you the 650 feels almost as strong as a stock LS2 Vette ( its not , but feels it ) - You really feel the weight in these cars when you throw them into a turn , but if I have to pick a car for a quick crosscountry blitz , the 6 series would be on my radar - Quiet , comfortable , planted and solid , I like them very much .

Just a thought and a question.....how can a car be so well built, but still winds up in the shop soooooo many times. Is that a reward for buying a well buiilt car???

Go check how many Lemon buy-backs BMW vs. other some other manufacturers and maybe rethink your statement.
