What was your first car?
I was wondering, reading these threads, what every ones first cars were? I remember my first back in "71" when My father in law found me a car to buy because I was driving a borrowed one. He found this old lady who was selling her husbands car because he had died. I went with my in law to look at it thinking it was going to be a pile for the $500 she was asking for it. When we got there I I could not believe it, a 66 Chevelle SS. She had no idea what she had, and I don't think my father in law did either. His idea of a good car was a Rambler or some Buick. Anyway after some discussion he bought it for me and I made payments. Hands down the best buy I ever made. It had only 3200 miles on it. I have had a lot of cars since, and I was ecstatic when I bought my Vette. But that "66", I wish I would have had the for site.

My first car that i "owned" never got to drive it because i was a young foolish boy that thought it was an easy resto project was a '72 Trans Am, white with a 400 and 4 speed car. Ended up selling it after i realized i was way in over my head, wish i just kept it and stored it till i was wiser and had the funds to do it justice. But then my first driver after that was a 1990 Mustang GT not bad for a 17 year old kid in 1993.

my first
'74 Camaro, 350, auto, brown/tan.
Put in a sunroof, air shocks and Cragar's
Sunroof flew off on way to school one time, I was always too lazy to lock it in.
I put the air shocks in myself and they leaked, so if I didn't put air in every week, the tires would start to rub.
Was always broken down.
Had a very load stereo and only way I could get it to burn out was to drop it from neutral, and I must have done that over 100 x's and trans never had an issue...only part of car that didn't.
I miss that car

My first car was a 2004 Cadillac CTS. I got into an accident less than a month after I got that car and it was a total loss so I used the insurance funds to upgrade to a 05.

My first car, in 1970, was a '65 Corvair Corsa convertible. My first NEW car was a year and a half later, a '71 Chevelle SS 454. Shoulda' kept it....

I sort of "inherited" a '62 Studebaker Lark Regal (bottom of the line, lightest coupe) when my folks were rear-ended and shoved into another car at a red light. It was put back together, but he didn't think it was "right" any more. Or maybe he just wanted an excuse to buy a new car, and went looking at new '64 GTOs.
It had a 289, 4 barrel, duals, overdrive 3-speed and traction bars. My dad was kind of a car nut. Surprised a few tri-five Chevies and Fords on the street.
Got my first used 'Vette a couple of years later.

1971 Camaro. Came with an inline 6 and a 3pd manual on the floor. I cracked the cylinder head within the first year and then the metamorphosis began...327 V-8 w/Hooker headers, Muncie 4-speed w/Hurst shifter, 4:11 posi rear, L-88 hood scoop and rear spoiler, Centerline wheels...it had finally arrived at that point. That car was great for burning up rear tires and clutches.

69 Ford Falcon. Had only 17,000 miles on it (back in 89), still had the factory clear seat covers on it. It was a real clean car. GF drove it off a small bridge into a creek, bent the front up and twisted the frame.
I can still remember having to pull the choke lever off the dash to start the car in the cold.

I actually had a FI , 4spd 79 Rabbit... pea green
Still, it was in great shape. it had been owned by my grandfather( who was an engineer). He had rebuilt the engine to be as efficient as possible, which also gave it more hp.... if hp and a rabbit can be mentioned in the same sentence.
it was a fun little car as a dd, in the days of .79 gas. Seems like I could drive forever on $3 of gas

Safety Car
1974 Camaro.... 350 with 4bbl, mild camshaft, headers, no cats, dynomax exhaust. Had either a 2.73 or 3.08 gear because it would do close to 50MPH in first gear, made for some killer burnouts
It was black with red interior and it had a set of laced type wheels(cant remember the brand)... it was a decent looking car.

My first car was in 1982, a puke green Chevy Bellair 4 door with a 350.
It was my Aunts car had 12,000 miles on it, it would get up and go pretty good for as big as it was.
