Default Getting a DD, need opinons.

Well I just sold my old DD (95 Lexus SC400) So I'm looking for another. Kind of want it to be fun, yet professional being that I'm in the Real Estate business with clients who know how to judge their realtor. I really don't want that affecting my decision, but I can't help to think I lose a client because of the vehicle I drive. My first option is a 98-02 Camaro, the other being a 05-06 GTO. Speed isn't a big factor, but would be nice to know which is faster stock for stock. I've heard that the GTO weighs about 3800 pounds (about 400 less than the Camaro). Buying the car isn't an issue, just the upkeep might be. The GTO comes with a nice warranty, whereas the Camaro probably wouldn't. I guess the easiest way to explain this is what's the best overall car? Thanks for your opinons.

I just bought a 2008 CTS for my DD. Got the sport suspension, direct port engine and 18in wheels. So far it's a great car. BTW: most realtors I know drive a four door car.

...and they're 50. haah jk. The CTS would be nice, but I'm sure that's out of my $25k price range.

I thought you had to be old, to drive a 4 door sedan.

A used CTS should be well within your $25K limit.

A good four door car will serve you well. Many times you will have more than just one passenger going along and they will not like having to climb into the back seat of a two door car.

I used a GMID Certificate and got out the door for 37k as equipped. It's a hell of a lot of car for the money. And yes, you do have to be old so I qualify. But I'm a lot younger when I drive my 500RWHP "Gentleman's Cruiser" vert.

Most 98-02 camaro/firebirds weigh in the 3300-3500 range. I have a 95 firebird that weighs ~3400 with nearly a full tank of gas. Only weight reductions were spare tire removal.

Traditionally, professions like real estate call for a 4-door sedan from a domestic near-luxury brand, like Buick, Mercury, or Chrysler. Reasoning for this:

- You need to comfortably carry passengers in the rear seat. (If you're taking a husband and wife to visit properties, which one gets to climb into the back seat of a Camaro?)

- They are non-offensive to persons who believe in "Buy American". Granted, this may be more sensitive in some parts of the country, than others. But, why take the chance? It's about the business.

- They convey a sense of success, but not excess. (In these days, I don't think either Cadillac or Lincoln convey excess. But, some may disagree.)

I've noticed that more Realtors are now buying crossovers and nice minivans.

I've always thought a great Realtor car would be a Cadillac SRX. The back seat is very roomy with a raised seating position so the rear seat passengers can see past the front seats. Just be sure to consider an 06 or later to get the narrow door sills or your clients (and you) will be getting their pant legs dirty.

Small back seats will not make a good impression on anyone. The GTO has fantastic rear seats, but are not ingressed and egressed out of with any kind of grace. If you are hauling clients, get the larger 4dr vehicle...charger, SUV of some sort (TBSS ), etc. If you really need a nice GTO, buy mine

I am also in the Real Estate business and I take clients out constantly, not to burst your bubble but a Camaro/Firebird or GTO is one of the most unprofessional cars you could consider, it screams young (not so much the GTO) and wet behind the ears. A 4 door car (or SUV/Crossover) is a must. For $25K a CTS would be a great choice, I happen to really like my TL (its my 2nd one) and sometimes I take the Hummer but its kind of hard to climb into for some people. Its unfortunate but people in this business tend to judge you on things like your car, its a very competitive field and you want to make every advantage for yourself..... make the right choice and stay away from the Camaro and GTO..... they are great fun cars but in no way whatsoever are a good choice considering your job.

Ok everyone just burst my bubble...lol jk. Let's put the whole the taking passengers aside. I buy and resell foreclosures, I hardly have people in my car, but they do see what I drive. My clients see the homes online and meet me at the house.

How about another Lexus...this time a GS? A Lexus may not make everything in the world perfect....but it sure helps!

After coming out of a Lexus going into a F-Body car is gonna feel like driving a horse and buggy, Go with the GTO then, if you really dont have to take out clients but they see what you drive then its not really a bad choice..... however if you do need to drive them once in a while or you may start down the road I cant stress to you enough to get a 4 door. Here is a nice list of sporty (but classy) 4 doors to consider:

Caddy CTS
Acura TL
Infiniti G35 sedan (availible in AWD too)
BMW 3 or 5 series (you will be able to buy a newer 3 than 5)
Lexus GS
Jaguar S Type
Mercedes E or C class (again looking at a newer C than E)

I would suggest a certified car, they tend to have quite a lengthy warranty along with great interest rates should you have to finance. I believe all of the cars above fit into certified programs.

The Camaro would be as close to unprofessional of a vehicle as you could choose for a RE agent. Might as well pick up a banged-up Civic with a fart can on the back if you want to complete the image.
