In the article, it states: The Z06 weighs just over 3200 pounds; the new CTS-v is likely to tip the scales at about 3600.

I know that the CTS-v has been re-designed for 2008 but I found it interesting that they would put a 600hp engine in this platform.

Anyone who has been watching the World Challenge should know that the CTS-V Caddy's have been able to compete against the Vettes, so that being said the Z07 (which will be the official name of the blue devil) would be the obvious next purchase.......

I don't think anyone really knows what is coming. The article contradicts itself, first they say 6.2SC, then they say 7.0L. As far as the ZR-1 / Blue Devil whatever, I have a hard time believing GM would add 80lbs of supercharger to the front end of a car that is supposed to be a track machine. Makes no sense in terms of weight, balance, and heat issues.

GM can get the LS7 to 600 HP NA with evolutionary technology.

80 lbs is very conservative. With intercooler, fluids, pump, brackets and other related hardware it is a bit more than that.

well, the leather would probably be better in the CTS but that drive off depreciation of at least 50% would hurt. One man's "Lead Sled" is another man's solid, stable, strong, supercar. What's with 3200 lbs. You know, there may be things about 600-650 hp that make a 3600 or 3800 lb vehicle BETTER than 3200.

The car will be too expensive for most people just like the SS/Blue Devil. It's a car meant to have a halo effect on the V6 CTS-the performance of which at 300 hp could not be stellar.

I think the CTS V might be a great car to pick up a couple of years old for about what a regular C6 coupe sells for....maybe $50k. Maybe even less. A caddy is still a caddy and their value drops 'like a rock'. Perhaps get a used one from some old codger who couldn't fit his walker into the trunk.

Cadillac is trying desperately to shed their image as a car for older buyers. I've driven a new CTS and although underpowered, it has excellent potential......the CTS-V should be just the ticket to help shed the old stereotypes. If I were interested in such a car I'd buy the Caddy over a BMW M5 or Audi S6 in a heartbeat. My wife drives an Audi and it's been nothing but trouble.

You've gotta give GM/Cadillac credit....they're trying.

How do we know that the CTSV isn't just a modified Corvette platform??

I hope you were being sarcastic. Power good.

In my household, my station wagon is quicker than my 08 C6.

Power very good.

It does not matter if it is powered by a jet engine...a station wagon is still a station wagon.

Because it's not. I believe the CTS is built off the Sigma platform. The only similarities b/t the Vette and CTS are the engine and tranny, that's it.

If you mean a 7 passenger luxury car that knocks off 12 flat 1/4 miles, then I agree!

That is a minimum. I cannot imagine them resorting to such a low-tech solution. .

My DD is a Magnum SRT...it's a blast to drive, station wagon or not.....and I can put my dogs and tons of stuff in it. Not all high perfomance vehicles just have to be two seat sports cars.

I drove a CTS about 2 years ago and was not impressed. Like you said, it was underpowered with some nasty blind spots and the dash is just a stupid a$$ design. However, the 2008 CTS has been re-designed both inside and out and the standard engine is a 304hp direct injection V6. Not bad for a V6. I remember when my new 1992 Corvette LT1 w/300hp was a big deal.
