Default Tahoe or Yukon Denali?

I am ready to order a new SUV - either a loaded Tahoe 4x4 or Yukon Denali - I am leaning towards the Denali for the extra hp and torque (pull a boat), but the Tahoe MPG is about 3 mpg better....I do not want to split hairs, but the Denali is an AWD without a 2 speed transfer case - only time I will need 4 wheel drive is a boat ramp. A few dollars more in gas is not a big deal to me - HP and Torque is! (6.2 vs 5.3, 320 hp/340 torque vs 380hp/417 torque).

Does anyone out there have experience with both.....suggestions?

Thanks, Ron

Also, I believe that the Denali has a six speed trans. verse the four speed in the Tahoe.

Sounds like your mind is already made up. I bought my wife an '07 Tahoe LTZ 4X4 when they came out. She absolutely loves it. I've only driven it a couple times, but from what I gather, it's a gas hog. Personally, I'd rather the Denali. They weren't out yet when I bought her Tahoe.

Thanks for your thoughts....I just found the specs for the 08's and they will have a new color for the Denali only - Dark Slate Metallic....I love the color....so, looks like it will be a Denali!

Black Z71 Tahoe here and love it, just didn't like the front end of the Yukon at all but they are both awesome rides. Can't go wrong with either.

Depends how big of a boat you are pulling.

We have a previous gen Yukon with the 5.3 LSX engine.

Pulls our Malibu Response (around 3500 lbs I think?) just fine through the Appalacian mountains.

In fact - our 5.3 pulls much better than my previous Z71 truck with the 5.7.

Well....I just got back from driving both a Yukon and Yukon Denali. Both are very nice vehicles and I was surprise how strong the 5.3 was....however, the Denali gets up and runs for a large SUV! Still thinking as there is only about $3K difference after loading up a Tahoe and/or Yukon. Geez...you would think this would be easy! Must be my 'old age' and spending tooooo many hours working on my 66!

I will make up my mind in the next week or so.

As for the boat, both would pull just fine. Now it comes down to which one will keep me interested on a daily basis back and forth to work!

Thanks for the comments! Ron

Per C&D, the Denali will hit 0-60 in 6.2 seconds with its 380 hp, 6.2 w/ six speed, the Tahoe takes 8.5 with its 5.3 320 hp 4 speed. Enough said!

Let me know. MY lease on my 2006 Infiniti FX35 is up on 9/20, and I will either buy it or look into a Denali.

I'd get the Denali....it's essentially an Escalade less $10+K. You get the six speed, nicer interior, and my experience w/ GMC dealers is better than Chevy.
