Why would gm make another v8 other than the ls3. (not including cadillac brands need for DOHC) ?
GM should make one four cylinder, one v6 (with and without DI) One V8 for its mass produced vehicles and call it a day.

My guess is that applications that don't need the LS2/3 will get a different, cheaper V8 (like the 5.3 liter). The one engine strategy sounds good until you put a motor in an everyday pickup truck that makes it too expensive to sell at a profit.
