EXACTLY. Technically, Steve McQueen's Mustang was a GTA (390ci). Not only that but it was a 4-speed and it did not have chrome tips.

Danny did a nice job but that was NOT a true replica.

I didn't see the Pawn Stars episode - I just watched this one, so I may have missed something, but I got the impression they wanted the car to "look" like Steve McQueen's Mustang -- I did not see that they were building a replica.

There's a few that I'll watch but IMO most all of the so-called "reality" shows are a joke. The Pawn Stars show came into existence almost by accident. From what I recall, the producers (after being unable to agree on a new show idea) were leaving town and happened to drive-by the pawn shop. Someone said let's do it on the pawn shop....they stopped and the rest is history.

I'm sure I'll check out Counting Cars to see what I think but more power to the Count....the show is bound to increase Danny's business tremendously. I'll bet the Pawn Stars show increased their business tenfold!

Watch (and listen) to the movie more closely.
Between the mustang and the Dodge, they both had to have Big Rig trannies in them.
I swear, both cars upshift 12 + times. Downshift at least 10 times.

And I read that Rick was pushing the idea of that show on his shop for years. Hmmm...

I enjoyed the couple of episodes last night. I like the fact that they don't spend a bunch of time on showing the work being done...just the finding of the car and the finished product.

I do get a chuckle out of the product placement though...obviously they are sponsored by Summit and whatever company they use for paint.

I'd be curious to see what kind of car collection Danny has. I would have kept that GTO too...

The valve covers were definitely from a Ford Windsor engine, so it's likely a 289 or 302. There's also the possibility that it's a 351 Windsor. That block is an inch taller, but probably wouldn't be hard to drop in an engine bay designed to hold the FE-series 390.

Ford used to drop those 390s in everything back in the '60s. Makes me wonder if these guys were too lazy to check a few wrecking yards...

They did an awful job on that GTO. The blacked out bumpers and such made it look like crap.

As far as that Camaro... wonder if it was really a SS or just a clone?
