Default How much does Dcfs pay you to per each foster child?

I have a situation. This family moved to my neighborhood. Two white parents with with 7 fosters kids. These kids are black and mentally challenged. All was well until today. Two of those retarded kids(11 or 12 yrs old) coaxed my 4 year old out of my house and took her .5 to 1 mile away. I noticed she was gone right away and I went after them and the kids seeing me follow them picked up my daughter and started running while holding her! I mean it almost looked like a kidnapping attempt! After getting my 4 year old daughter, I went to the parents house and as I rang the doorbell I could see the parents attempting to hide and clearly they did not want to talk with me. I believe the family is doing this for cash flow. Never met them. Kids are always in our area of the culdesac with no supervision at all.

Do people do this? They adopt kids to make money?

I read a lot of memoirs of kids that survived the system, and from what I have read it seems that a lot of people foster for the wrong reasons. Don't know if times have changes but a lot of the kids ended up in disgusting homes and treated horribly, while the foster parent received the money for five or more fosters per month. The system is so overwhelmed that the people who were supposed to be advocating for these children didn't have the time to check up on all of the kids. Some of them suffered neglect and abuse for years before someone stepped in.

Poor kids. Was your daughter upset by the whole ordeal? Did the parents ever answer the door? Why are mentally challenged kids wandering around with no supervision?

Call the police. It's horrible to think about, but who knows what they were taking your daughter for.

If anyone picks up your child and begins running, that would be a kidnapping attempt. Not just look like one.
The police need to get involved in this ASAP.

If that was my kid, I would probably end up in jail for what might have happened next.

I would also call the police, mainly for what the kids did with your daughter but also because they may need to check on what is going on inside that house.

Not sure how much they get paid but it's us the taxpayer paying these scammers. Nobody, and I mean nobody wants 7 kids let alone 7 retards.

I worked with kids like that and it was a pretty well known fact that parents would do this for money.

Or parents who were retarded themselves would refuse to give up their retarded kids because of the money.

Similar but different. Where I work, there are probably 10 of these mentor homes. This is a place a buyer picks up a house cheap, does a little renovation, then brings in wards of the state. Taxpayers pay them to provide housing, with staff that doesn't know squat. Just maintain a log book, give them their meds daily and feed and let them sleep. They call 9-1-1 for every little thing, which makes us their health care provider. Each home has maybe 10 people that are put up.

Two things needed to happen ASAP. A report to the police, and a complaint filed with whatever state agency handles the program. In Oregon, it'd be DHS, but that varies from state to state.

In answer to the original question- how much per kid? That depends on the individual child's needs. There's a fairly lengthy evaluation process that determines the number.
