What's a HK-91 worth? Opinions? Found one for sale localy and found it interesting.... Just trying to figure out what a fair price would be and what a great price is.

Is it a genuine HK or a made under license version? Wont be much of a difference in reliability, just a price factor. I shot one recently, didnt care much for the sights on it but maybe it takes more than 5 rounds to get used to them . Very violent ejection of the brass, it threw the empty case a good 20 feet, and its a fluted chamber so its not worth reloading afterwards anyway. I'm not positive but it looks like the slim line handguards in your pic, the guy who owned this one said they do not shield your hand from the heat much at all.
What's that on the trigger? One of those auto-trigger thingies? I wouldn't think so being a .308.
How does it shoot? What's the effective (targetable) range on it?
That’s the trigger shoe, I put a H&K PSG1 trigger group in mine. It shoots great and the recoil is very low.
But it’s a battle rifle not a true sniper weapon so about the best you can hope for is around 2 moa accuracy.
If it's a real HK and it's in the United States, I'd go out on a limb and say it's a pre-ban.
I paid $209 for my HK-91 brand new, but that was in 1978. Since then, they've gone up a bit. What keeps the value up is that they cannot be imported any more. In my opinion, it's a heavy gun and not as much fun to shoot as my AR-15s. I probably wouldn't consider buying one today.

AR-15 shoots a .223, HK-91 shoots a .308. Big difference, my M1-A1 is very heavy but............
difference? about $35 for every 100 rounds. and you can shoot about 500 rounds with an AR and not even feel it. 500 rounds with a .308 will mean shoulder surgery.
BTW, i have a CETME i've been trying to sell for about 3 months. barely a nibble. not a lot of people with the cash to actually buy anything right now.
Unless you're out hunting Taliban in Afghanistan, what's the difference?
The difference for me was that in Colorado the .308 is a legal big game hunting round, the .223 is not. And yes the HK91 is legal to hunt with if you use the 5 round magazine.
If I'm hunting Elk or Deer and the weather turns wet out comes the HK91, no way I'm ruining one of my prize hunting rifles.

I guess I would say that is a perfectly acceptable use for the HK-91. It's true that they take a lot of abuse. The funny thing is, it's actually worth more than some of my prize hunting rifles.
Here's mine. I had it appraised recently at a gun show, wow it has really increased in price. It got a great appraisal due to its outer and inner parts condition. I always keep this rifle very clean and lubricated even if I only shoot it a few times.
My HK 91 with PSG1 trigger group and stock with Arsenal AK47 and Russian scope.
Pretty accurate, not my best but you get the idea for very quick shots at 100 yards. I know it can do much better.
The day was pretty windy:
