Default oops gasoline in a duramax

one of our guys put gasoline in the company duramax dually on a road trip. obviously they drove it a little ways and it quit. will there be any immediate or long term damage?

Doesn't sound good. How much gas vs. amount of Diesel in the tank?

Drain the tank of gas, pull the fuel pump line, turn key to turn on pump and pump residual gas in the line.
Reconnect line, fill with diesel, turn key and cross fingers.

The above worked on a Powerstroke with "0" ill effects. Don't ask me how I know.

they're at the chevy dealer in western ky. right now. the service dept. said it should be fine but i was wondering if any one has close experience with an incident like this.

Good chance. The bad thing is, is that it was run until it quit. The damage could be severe.

We had a similar incident with a Yanmar diesel powered John Deere Pro Gator at work. We had to drain the tank & lines & replace the fuel filter. It has been running like normal since then.

Psssst.....there is no "pump" to pump the fuel.

Depends on the mixture.

If it ran till it quit, then its probably toast.

Drain the tank, blow out the lines until the return line comes out clean.

Put about 5 gallons of diesel in the tank, prime the fuel up to the filter using the hand primer. Hope for the best.

IMHO, they have a the very least shortened the life expectancy of the diesel.

Yes, but you were not running down the highway at 70 mph either.

There is an electric pump on the 7.3 PSD's, not sure about Max's.

Mine ran till it quit, had 12000 miles on it. I did the above procedure. Filled it up, fired right up and I have not replaced an injector, pump, nothing. I have 150K on it now.

We've had a few service techs do the same on our Powerstoke service trucks with no damage.

Unless it was at full boost there shouldnt be enough compression to ignite the gasoline, and therefore the engine just stalled. No harm.

Putten around in a Gator VS 7,000 lbs of truck hauling azz down the highway. Lots more revolutions before it dies.

No pump on the Dmax. Suction feed to the filter.

Like I said earlier, depends on the mixture of diesel VS gas. May be fine but it had to hurt it some.

I put a couple gallons of gas in my diesel by accident when BP first came around. Friggen brits dont know that Green means diesel here in the states. Not reg. gas

Ran fine but that was a 10:1 mixture.

Huh?? Diesels have more compression that gas engines. That's how the diesel fuel ignites

Used to be a local used car lot that specialized in nice low mileage cars.

The owner's wife grabbed an almost new MB diesel and filled it with gas before she left.

The engine grenaded a few miles down the road.

The owner was not happy
