I have verizon Fios and the new BB Curve 8350i by Sprint/Nextel which when I attemp to establish a connection says that it has found my network but it keeps asking me for my Pre-Shared Key (PSK) but according to my computer that is a protected word that is indicated by ****** asteriks and I have no idea what it is so I keep getting the message "Failed to authenticate against the network" and I am unable to establish a connection. Also when I enter the numbers/letters written on the underside of the router itself I am also unable to connect. Anyone?
either ask that person for the PSK or login to your router and change it. You need the admin password to login to the router. On most routers you need your network cable plugged into the 1 port on the back to gain access. However, I have no idea about your fios card. Any chance the person who set it up for you would remember either password?
Easiest thing to do is a hard reset of the router. Should be a reset button on the router. Hold it down for 15 to 20 seconds. That should put the router back to it's original settings. No PSK. If it's a linksys router connect your laptop to it with a Cat5 cable. And go to the following IP.
192.168.1.1
Should be able to change all the settings including setting a password and PSK
