Need help fixing Plaster Mold of my trunk lid please[pictures].
Hey, I've made a plaster mold of my trunk for my c5 vert, I have plans to make a carbon fiber/fiberglass layup that I can use for racing needs in the next season....
Anyway, my problem is a few imperfections. For one, I need to fill in the emblem, as I don't want that to be in my layup, and a few pothole/rough spots that are less than desireable.
Do I need to dig up some of the rough spots and then add more material? Or should I just put spot filler on it? Or will some really thick gelcoats be enough to fill it in?
Advice appreciated. In retrospect, I should've mixed the stuff up better, and this might not have happened, but so far, a lot of time effort and money has gotten me this far, and I'd rather not start all over.
The vast majority of the surface is glossy smooth, but there's about 10% that needs some touch up work.
Thanks, and here's some pics of the framing that I made to start this project:

Ever mud up drywall? Same thing basically. Shouldn't be a problem. Just get a long enough flat blade to span past each side of the imperfection so that it is even when you flatten it. And get all the air out or else when it dries it may sink a bit.
It's hard to believe there isn't an aftermarket carbon fiber trunk lid available for a corvette. Did you undertake this project for the satisfaction of doing it yourself, or is this really something the aftermarket hasn't produced?

Why is it that hard to believe? Probably wouldn't be as popular as something like a hood that holds a much more prominent position.
Mix up a cup of plaster, spray the hardened stuff with water to dampen, spread new with fingers to fill voids, leave slightly raised above hardened area. Once dry, sand smooth.

I haven't exhausted my searching measures on the project, but I haven't found one yet. Please link me if you have one, and I'll write off the $150 I have invested so far.

I did all my research on Youtube and Google. Watched a bunch of videos on fiberglass/carbon fiber, and just a little bit of plaster mold making. I haven't come across a video for repairing imperfections in deck lids.

You almost nailed it the first time around but not quite. Use that as a learning experience and knock out a perfect cast like a true craftsman. I cant imagine plaster costing that much and if it turns out sweet then maybe you could sell a few of these suckers.

Imagine it costing this much: $15/bag, at 4 bags, $60 bucks and a bunch of mixing spreading, frame making, not to mention lifting that heavy sob and turning it over...
I'm gonna stay the course on this one. I am a man of utility, not a waxer by any means...
I sent him a PM dont know if you will get a reply or not, I dont have his email and if i did, wouldnt want to without his consent.. I sent him a link to this page, Ive seen his glass work...its exceptional to say the least.
I dont know if its worth your time to sign up over there and send him a PM or not, but its on S10forum.com and his screen name is NickZigaitis

Maybe Wren could give you some input, he seems pretty sharp about this type of stuff. Hopefully he pipes in. Always wished I could learn how to mold parts. Keep at it!!
