Default Beaten by smog ??

So...this year they are making me take my 2002 Z06 to one of the STAR stations for smog.

I'm pretty sure that means...having my AR Long Tubes on there may becoming to an end.

Anyone else have some clever way to get around a smog inspection at a STAR station? Otherwise...recommendations on where I can go to have my Long Tubes removed and the original stuff put back on?

ARGH.

Thanks guys!

Not all smog stations are STAR stations A STAR station is "a smog station which is monitored closely by the BAR and must conform to high standards established by the Bureau of Automotive Repairs".

According to the list of STAR stations, Rio Vista only has one - Rio Vista Ford.

If they do pre-checks that might be an option. But if they do the visual check the LT's won't pass...

I had to smog my 08 Z in December and had to remove the LT's and high flow cats.

Good luck

If you have your stock stuff and thats your only mod, swap the stuff back, drive for 80 miles, smog it, swap it back

Unfortunately...that would require having any form of mechanical ability and a lift I think.

I know its 'easy' but I have tried way too many 'easy' stuff to once again prove to myself that I'm very specially challenged when it comes to cars.

Thanks everyone for your input...

Swap over to the c6z06 factory manifolds and cats. Loose a little power but will gain more over c5 exhaust

This is a good idea for those with LS1/6/2/3 and minor mods that want to stay smog legal.

Love driving them...understand how it all works under the hood and electrically/electronically but damn if I can touch it with a wrench without costing myself money.

Would they bolt right up the exhaust?

No, you have to have reducers put on the rear of the h-pipe to go from 3" to 2.5" and the 2 bolt flange welded on since C6 stuff is slip fit. Nothing crazy though, any muffler shop should be able to handle it. Also you have to delete the air tubes since C6 doesnt have them.

Default Seriously if it isn't this its something else

I would consider leaving the State of Chaos (CA) aka: republik of kalifornia. Born and raised here and have seen the changes for the worse go down the toilet.
Alot of people and companies I knew left and did this with more to follow.
There are just too many unnecessary revenue collecting laws here. We pay more and get less i.e cost of living, housing, gas, torn up roads etc
