South Bay convoy to Rainbow Run

We ARE going over the GGB. Leaving Palo Alto at 8:30, so we should be into SF about 9 - 9:10 I would think. then 15-20 minutes to get through 19th ave unless something odd happens. PM me your number if you like and I can call when we get in range. I think the stop at the vista point will depend on us all being able to stay together or not.
Personally, I think we should just go 3 wide and set the pace

3 Wide is perfect
This is the biggest cruise of the year and the last thing we want to do is be the ones that got there late...LOL.
It would make things very simple for all drivers to have your radios tuned to channel 10-0 and on while waiting to join in. As we drive through you can join right in at th back of the line. We will not stop or slow down but this will not be a race either. We will keep a steady pace so that anyone sitting along side the freeway or on ramps can easily catch up to fall in line. BTW If you do not have a radio it would be wise to get one. We do countless runs throughout the year and having a radio is so much easier than a phone. You will be in direct communication with over 100 cars and will have the adbvantage of knowing when and where the stops take place. Bathrooms, fuel, Food and all the chatter is fun to listen to....

Nope, a couple of Fremont/Union City guys are meeting us at the Whipple ramp and then we will all join up with the SB group to go 101 to 380 to 280, 19th Ave across the GGB and then pick up more folks north of the bridge.

Good to know. Still in the air whether I'll be going on the cruise, but I'll see if I can't make it to this meetup if I do go.

We have at least 6 pair of radios all different makes that I know where they are at and a few more I can't remember where we left them... great for camping, Boating, Kids going to the beach boardwalk... Use them for everything.. Went to Mexico a few years back with a group of 20 and we all had them.. made it easy as some did not have international cell phones..
btw: as soon as you sell the second unit you will need it... LOL

If it's a radio that is used at your job and you can only select 10 channels, it might be a commercial radio and has pre-set frequencies that are not compatible with FRS/GMRS.
I'm using my ham radio tuned to the FRS channel 10 frequency of 467.6125.
If you have it handy, post the model number, so we can determine that kind of radio it is.

I looked it up and it's a commercial radio as I expected. It will not be compatible with the FRS/GMRS radios being using. The FCC has set a block of frequencies for commercial use and that's what yours is.
So, you can't use it with the FRS radios everyone else is using.
I can talk to you since my radio is a full frequency unit (ham radio).
If you really want to get an FRS radio to be in communication with drivers, pick up a pair (they are almost always sold in pairs) from Wal-Mart or Target. If you have an Amazon Prime account and choose overnight, you might get on Friday.
