Default Thanks TPS

Wanted to say thanks to Mike, Jason, John & Aaron at TPS for putting a A&A Supercharger kit on my 01 Z06.

Just to start off before the A&A kit was installed, my average gas mileage in the car was 18mpg and after adding the kit and driving it around over the weekend my gas mileage jumped up to 28.5mpg, not bad for a 600hp car. I can’t be happier with the power and drivability of the car.

Thanks again and keep up the good work guys!

You might want to do the old school way to check your mpg, I know when I put bigger injectors in my SS it threw off the DIC reading for mpg.

Ya I couldn't believe it too, so I was going to calculate the MPG next time I drive it.

I always go on miles per tank. Congrats on the new power, and be careful on cold mornings/tires...

You gained 10 mpg average by installing a super charger? You must be getting 40+ on the highway then...

The tune for those 60lb 3 bar injectors is throwing off your DIC reading.

My DIC says 16mpg....and my hand calculations are approx 15mpg. I'd say either your DIC is way off, you drive like grandpa, or I drive like an animal.

Either way, congrats on the S/C. Care to share you dyno numbers?

I will do a calculation next time and post the MPG.

I did take it easy driving it over the weekend trying to feel out the cars power band.

The car did make 617rwhp and I can't remember the TRQ.

The final tune was set to 555rwhp and 468trq.

Why would the final tune be 62 RWHP off of the peak number? Was the peak number on better fuel and/or more boost than the final tune? I'm all for a safe tune, but a safe tune doesn't have to be dog-dick either. Losing 62 RWHP vs. what the setup is capable of is dog-dick.

What exactly does it mean for an engine to "get burnt out"? Just curious...

It wasn't too long ago when 500whp was what was considered safe on stock cubed ls1/ls6's. Unless I logged everytime I drove and had an AFR and Fuel Pressure gauge I could stare at, I personally wouldn't keep it at 615. Ask the guys who have new forged motors...

Huh? If things are done properly the engine will last a long time.

When I think of Burnt, I think of some of my friends from the 60s.

Thanks Chris... I'm glad your happy with your car. As far as your gas mileage going up it's more because of your new tune more than anything

The reason why it was detuned is because NO stock LS1/LS6 motor is going to last very long at over 600RWHP if he wants to drive it hard. At the level he's at he's going to be able to drive it a long time without having too many issues. At 600+RWHP on a stock block it's just a matter of time before it goes boom.
