the wave

The WAVE, I see as hit and miss sometimes other Vette owners seem annoyed and they flap there hand back at you more than a wave. Others look at you like what the hell, I am an old fart but look younger so the younger crowed actually wave back at me. Occasionally I get the snob that turns there head up of course there nose is so high in the air that I believe the control tower at Travis AFB actually can see it on the radar. What is more annoying to me is when a youngster pulls up rides your tail swings around tries to egg a race on and they have a vette. Look I have no problem giving them a spanking but quit acting like Mustang owners. Usually other Vettes don't roll up on each other and just act like fools. When I had my 07 Mustang GT I noticed it all the time. Mustang owners have ZERO loyalty they will attack one another in a second. Oh well divorce settled that, she got the Mustang he got the **** with the Mustang and I got the VETTE

I 1st became aware of the corvette wave in 1959, and I didn't own a vette until 64'. Back then the salesman at the Chevy dealer told you about it when he sold you the car. I don't know why it seems to have become somewhat less known by the latter owners. I bought my 1st new Porsche in 68' and the salesman told me about the flashing light salute to fellow Porsche drivers. Do Porsche drivers still flash their lights? And yes I still wave...I know the drill.

In the fall of 2002, I did the Museum Delivery of my 2003 Spiral Gray C5. On the way home I stopped at the Mid-America Corvette Funfest in Effingham, Illinois. There were over 7,000 Corvettes. It was fantastic! I left mid afternoon, and encountered many Corvettes still on their way to the Funfest. There were small and large groups and singles. For almost an hour, I had my left hand up to the window in an almost continuous wave. I've never felt so loved!

If you look at the circle in the upper right, halfway down from the "C" in Corvette, in the middle aisle, you can see 2 groups of people near a gray C5. That was my new car. They said it was the first "Spiral Gray" they had seen. They said I should take it up front and have them put it on display. I said "Sorry, but I have to go now."

I wave whenever I can, even to cars going opposite me on the freeway.
When I'm in the 78, it's easy because the window is perpetually down.
The hvac system in the new one is good enough that it's almost never down, so it's a right hand wave through the windshield or the left hand smashing into the window glass because I forgot the window was up.
