the local Jiffy Lube. Anybody can do an oil change. You don't need the best mechanic to do it, unless you like spending lotsa money and not having to add oil, replace overtightened drain plugs, clean up spilled oil, find they did not use synthetic, fix damaged rocker panels from improper lifting and a whole bunch more good reasons.
You would be amazed at the stuff we see after cars come in after a "jiffy lube" oil change.

I'm not saying we should be taking our Corvettes to Jiffy Lube, but your comment about "fix damaged rocker panels from improper lifting" perplexes me. I've never seen a Jiffy Lube that used a lift to change oil. They all have underground pits.

I wasn't just talking about Jiffy Lubes specifically, but also the mom and pop shops that don't have a clue what a lifting puck is. I'm also not saying that you should always use a dealer, but just go somewhere that will at least let all the oil drain out before shoving the drain plug back in.

Now, to the OP - based on your location and just needing an oil change, I would go to Newtech in Hayward. For more complicated items, you will have to decide who is the best for your needs. If you are doing crazy mods, Newtech can do these as well. If you are doing stock replacement items or warranty work, I wouldn't hesitate to drive all the way up to Richie. It just depends on what your needs are.

>>> but just go somewhere that will at least let all the oil drain out before shoving the drain plug back in.
Heh, this is what I was greeted with popping the hood a few days after my first oil change at another dealer.

I go to Abel now, about 80 miles, but I like the trip up to the Delta...

I guess anyone can change the oil but, only top mechanics replace the oil cap.
is it a special request to replace the cap?

I work at carmax, and they do it for me. We use the proper jacking pucks, and it costs me penny's on the dollar. I used to use FFP, but now I don't need to spend $80... lol.

I use Rick @ Synergy in Fremont (although he is no longer a CF sponsor - he used to be, however). He works most Saturdays, knows most 'Vettes in and out and he's a very nice guy as well. He does all my oil changes and other asundry (non-warranty) work on my C6. I trust him implicitly. My 2-cents?
FWIW, I use Dublin Chevy/Caddy/Hummer for all my warranty work. They're open on Saturdays and seem to have their stuff together. Chris is the Corvette tech there (originally from Stead Chevy/WC). He's quite an impressive young man, IMHO.
