Default Exotica's Z06 will be rowing a little smoother........

Well, I just finished Exotica's MM6 (he has M12 but MM6 gearing will match his set up better) build with RPM upgraded parts. I took some pictures of the build and wanted to share with the locals. Enjoy!

All the parts ready to assemble.

RPM modified 1-2 shift fork/steel 3-4 shift fork/billets keys/bronze fork pads

Forks/bronze pads installed on main shift rail

Bare main shaft but getting gears.

Close up of one of the billet keys.

Additional gears on the main shaft.

Main shaft is completely assembled and ready to be installed.

1-4 gears/cluster shaft for shimming.

The main case is installed and torqued to check end play.

Checking main shaft end play.

Checking end play on cluster shaft.

End play written down so I don't forget! LOL

Shim selected and ready to go.

Close up of RPM modified 1-2 Shift fork

Ready for final assembley.

Main case ready to go on.

Shifter guide pins installed using locktite.

The magnets are installed using silicone.

Bare extension shaft.

5th/6th/5-6 synchro assembled.

5-6 driven gear installed.

6th drive gear installed.

5th drive gear/5-6 synchro/5-6 shift fork installed.

Reverse synchro installed.

Reverse gear/rear support bearing installed.

Trans is completely assembled.

Stay Tuned for Exotica's Diff build. Few upgrades in that also.

Getting the car ready for the drags?? Transmission looks good Tom. Are you going to change the rear end gear ratio or just beef up the differential? Looking Good.

Keeping 3.42s. I changed to the MN6, though since I wanted slightly longer gears.

The synchronizer's job is to bring the next gear (up shift or down shift) up to speed so the shaft and the gears are the same speed. The synchro has few parts. The synchro hub (splined to the shaft) and synchro ring (slides over the hub in either direction) is held in place by the keys/retaining spring. The outter ring slides over and first engages the blocker ring (this has friction material that aids the gear up to speed) and then the engagement teeth on the gear. Take a look at the pictures below and see if you can understand it.

This is a comparision of T56 synchro on the left and TR6060 on the right.

This shot shows how the outter ring of the synchro slides back and forth.

This is a synchro sandwiched between two gears.

This is a side of the gear that faces the synchro. If you look close, you can see the little engagement teeth just above the main gear teeth.

Further buildout of my differential should be completed today. It already had hardened shafts but now is getting carbon fiber clutch packs and C6 pinion support. Can't wait to install it!
