Default FINALLY going in for that much needed TUNE tomorrow. :)

With me finishing this build last week I thought it was time to get this pig rich car tuned. I had an old tune but since then have installed some Lingenfelter heads and some porting done. Going to take the car to Nick tomorrow to install some bigger injectors, a polished fuel rail (Of Course ), and lastly the tune. I guess I expect 450hp but want closer to 500hp. We will see.

Yeah he is considered one of the best in the area. We are fortunate in the fact that there are a few good tuners in the immediate area. Last year New Tech and Synergy were offering discounts on tunes and I was able to lock in pricing with a deposit. I am excited. I can finally drive the car. HAHA

You can say "hi" to my car, torn to pieces while you're there. Nick is doing some big things with my Z06... I'm sure he'll make a thread for it when it's all done.

What cam are you running? 500 RWHP stock displacement is a very high mark... and takes a big cam and all the best supporting mods.

Car did O.K. I want to be done with it but I am not making the power I want. Looking for 500NA on a stock bottom end and it does not look like my heads and cam will do that. I might just install a fast who knows. Car drives like a dream and make 443hp with 4119TQ on a conservative tune. Some pulls made a bit more HP and some made allitle more TQ (2-3) but this was the cleanest overall and Nick was very pleased with it. I guess I should be to, they were telling me to expect 415HP. In any case it is surely a raped Ape for me.

That's almost exactly what my old motor did. I wouldn't bother ****ing around with it trying to get to 500RWHP stock bottom-end NA. You're going to give up bottom-end and a lot of drive-ability with a cam that can do 500RWHP out of a 346 NA. Go big-cubes if you're going for 500+.

HOLY CRAP.

I wouldn't worry about the pulls where you gained 2-3 lb-ft of torque, that's only a 0.07% difference, I doubt you'll notice it.

I know for a fact your car did not make that much torque.

Everything needs to be just right with almost every supporting mod to make 500 on stock bottom end.

TJ,

Yes guys the 500hp dreams are out the window. I think I can pick up MAYbe 15 from a ported 90mm Fast combo. Getting me that extra power will cost about $1500 and I am not sure I am willing to spend $100 per HP at this point. I am just going to enjoy the car. Titus yes Nick did a great job. I want to spend alittle more time with the car. At this point the 2.5 hours it took me to get home Wed was a nice drive.

Nice Teddy. What did it make on the baseline pulls before the tune?

I dont know. Nick shut it down. He started the pull and the car went so rich he shut down. I told him from the gate I wanted to keep the old tune file and to have the new one since I have HP tuners myself, but he apoligised and said it just was not safe. I am glad to because my car used to be so rich I could not let it warm up in the garage with the door open. If I walked behind it, the fumes were amazing. Seems to be normal now. I said I was done, but I think a nice 50hp shot might help out.

Teddy,
Good numbers!. It is really tough to make 500rwhp N/A with a 346without having a giant cam and some well thought out, complimentary mods. That being said you would probably be faster the way you are because that big cam on a little motor would not leave you any low end torque.
You need to drive it alot and then make the new plan. If you have a good high LSA (Read no overlap) cam, your next move might be a blower. You would have better throttle response down low than a big cam, still have the Dyno number you are looking for and have some MPH when you want it.
At the end of the day the Dyno is only a tool, or a gauge, don't get caught up Dyno racing! Come out to the track and start making the mods that will give you the performance you want.
Glad to see you driving again,
Steve
