Default NorCal Wednesday Nite Drags @ Infineon

How about it Norcal,
October 7th @ infineon Raceway.
Lets get some great cool weather drag times again. My Personal best happened last fall when the cooler air came back. We will have our own lanes again and really have some Corvette Fun. Best to bring a snack, a jacket, a helmet, and your fast corvette!
I have confirmed with the track management We will haver our own lanes, Compete only against other vettes, and have our own trophys for 1st - 3rd place. We will be in lanes 12-13 all night. After you go through tech you go to lanes 12 or 13.This will be a great end of the season event. Make sure you don't miss it.
We have had more than 75 cars at some of these Wednesday Nite events in the past. It would sure be cool to have over 100!
Only a few more weeks of Wednesday Nite drags @ Infineon for this season so let's make sure we get this done. Along with fall weather comes those great low times associated with cooler nites and calm winds.
We will once again have a Reaction Times Pool with a $10 buy in. You don't have to be the fastest guy around to win the reaction time pool, just lucky! I would love to see 50 plus Vettes again and two lanes to ourselves!
I will post this in other places too, Lets go Racing Boys and Girls!

Man, are you Persuasive.
You should become a car salesman say at Able Chevrolet
What a combination that would be with you bringing them in the front door and Rich in the service department!

Steve,
Your timing on this couldn't have come at a better time.
With the Division 7 Summit ET Bracket Finals going on in Phoenix October 1-4, many of the Infineon Wednesday night regulars won't be back or too tired to come out meaning lots of time runs for everyone.
I base this on previous years experiences and would not be too surprised to see at least 4 practice runs before we start the final elimination run off's.
That applies to you early birds that can be out to the track around 3:30 or so

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Hey Jim, some of the guys are planning on coming out with their new setups but are worried that they will be kicked out after only one run. The problem is that this is their first time at the track with their setup and have no ideal what times they will run. If they run just a little under the 11:50 can they get a warning first? It will make a difference whether they come to the track or not. If it will help, most of the guys are running street tires so the time should not be too low. Thanks

Charlie, I would recommend they do a couple 1/8th mile passes for the first practice runs. We can tell if they will be under 11.50 by looking at the 1/8th tmes. later on if the hook, they can run it out and get the boot. I consistantly have to lift about 1,000 feet to keep from going under 11.50 and it is no big deal.

Charlie,
Rich just nailed it and that would be the best idea.
I can't speak for the guys who run tech but if it isn't some blatant violation, you just may get by.
The biggest violaters are the drivers running sub 14 second runs without a helmet and/or Convertibles running under 13.50 without a roll bar.

Thanks Richie and Jim, I will tell the guys. So do they just lift before the end and then you can tell roughly what they would have run in the 1/4 mile time by their 1/8 time?

Either way we can guess pretty close. If they run hard to the 1/8th on their first run, we can guess about how close to the end they will need to lift. I know that if I hook up good on the line, I will need to lift before 1,000 feet to not go under 11.50. If the car is faster then mine, they will need to lift accordingly.

Terrance might need to lift because he is running 580rwhp and drag radials, Deno, I think might be fine since he is running street tires. I might be very close with my street tires since I was running 11.61 and 11.67 on my only 2 runs last time.

I just did a mail out for this race using Steve's original message.
My mailing list in regards to the people who post here is small so I would appreciate it if you could help spread the word.
Anyone wanting to contact me to get on the list and this would also include the weekly Wednesday Night drag results as well as our ET Bracket events can do so by writing: edlyn@sfo.com

I think I might be able to attend this event and race my Corvette for the first time. What time do the final eliminations usually end?

Depending on how many rounds you go after eliminations start, you can be out of there by 8:00 or 9:00. I would imagine it will not be a huge turnout because of some of the racers being at or coming back from the points race the weekend before.

I just want to make sure that nobody is gonna object to me possibly running the Trailblazer SS with you. Carrie might want to run the Z06 so I would be in the backup race car.

Afterall, the TBSS is just a 4,500 pound 5 passenger Corvette, right?

My car won't be out of the shop in time for the races, but I'll be there shooting photos, just need a big smile and a corvette wave.
