David- If you find a place I would love to have my roof wrapped. I always wondered what that would look like. A friend of my wifes just had a 12 pass van wrapped for advertising and it was $3500. I think it might be pretty expensive.

Pricing I have heard so far has all been in the $1800 - $2500 range.

Just get a Maaco paint job instead. It will probably last just as long.

How about Earl Schieb and tell them not to polish it after painting. Another few $$$ saved.

You can get the high end vinyl in just about any color including metallics. I was NOT planning on the satin finish that you see in the other post

Still, you spend $2K and it looks good for a year or two, maybe. And I would be afraid of rocks. My clear bra can tell the story

I figure with the radical paint I am planning, I will probably change it again in two years. Also, this is not made out of the same stuff as clear bra. Clear bras are made out of polyurethane while this is vinyl. The vinyl will actually look better much longer, but will not protect the underlying paint the way clearbra does.

Yeah Ive done a couple of these, heres my vette and my buddies 240Z(used to be silver) but as was stated in that thread by another film guy, even the best 3M automotive vinyls will last only a couple years, NEVER 7 years. The finish is also not as nice as paint and will dull and stain over time. And unlike 8mil urethane paint protection film, all of these cast 2 mil vinyl films tear and chip up quite easily. Also, they make metallic vinyl films but they just dont look good at all imho.

like I mentioned, exterior automotive vinyl color fades and the finish dulls dulls within a couple years. and yeah it really doesnt have any durability at all. One of my customers is a tour bus company that has to replace their 3M vinyl ever few years because it all starts looking like crap

Vinyl can last a long time if it is maintained well. We have wrapped some cars with vinyl and then gone back over the front end with paint protection film. That will also prevent chipping and scratches in the vinyl.
