When I was a kid,16-21, I worked summers for the Crockett fire dept. The worst thing we had to do was going to accidents. I only remember 2 really bad ones, but they were pretty gruesome. I realized I didn't have the stomach for that kind of work. Hats off to firefighters and paramedics that deal with this all the time.
Dam thats horrible, seeing stuff like always makes think 2x about speeding or being in a hurry to get somewhere. Check this site out http://www.wreckedexotics.com/

I can relate. When I worked for CalTrans we had to respond to all sorts of gruesome accidents. One bad one was in Crockett on Mother's Day morning when a grandmother T boned a 18 wheeler turning off of Cummings Skwy onto Valona, killed her and the grandchildren The only thing that saved me from losing it on some of these was my years of being in the military and became de-sensitized from such sights.
RIP
"Investigators said the driver of the Corvette, who was not wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred, was taken to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria in critical condition."
No second chances to see if it would've saved the guys life or not...

RIP to the driver of the 'Vette, but it is amazing that the impact caused the big rig to spin around like that. If you look at the above mentioned website, you will be amazed at how many drivers walked away from/survived the Corvette wrecks you see. Says something for the integrity of our cars.
Still, something else had to be going on here besides "crossing the center line".
Now haw can a driver of a newer Corvette not put their seat belt on ESPECIALLY when on some 2 lane back roads. I mean cmon, I know there are some pretty stupid people out there but most Vette drivers normally a bit higher IQ's. But in rare cases such as something like this it might be better without one if you can get ejected clear before that massive truck wraps around and on top of you.
