Default Problems with Courtesy Chevrolet

I have been having some issues getting help from Courtesy Chevrolet. I have a 2005 C6. I bought new from there. I also have an extended warranty up to 8 years. I have the roof problem that plagued the 2005 models. I have already done the recall fix and it was good for like a month. Then I would hear it creak here and there from time to time. But not much. In the last month or so, my roof is out of control. It is constantly creaking and it is LOUD. I have gotten to the point where I don't enjoy driving it any more. It is actually loud enough that it makes normal taking in the car annoying.

Anyways, I have attempted to contact Courtesy Chevrolet on 2 separate occasions and receive no call back. I just want my roof fixed or replaced if necessary. I work during the week so I have a hard time going to Courtesy Chevrolet and their service deparentment is not open on the weekend. And I am getting a little turned off on their lack of service.

Question: Since I bought it from Courtesy Chevrolet, do I have to go to them? Can any other chevy dealership (one close to my house) handle a repair/warranty issue? Can any dealers on here help me out? Is there anyone here that works for Courtesy Chevrolet willing to assist me?

Thank You

You can take your car to any dealer for warranty repair. If Los Gatos Chevrolet is close to you, go to them. It's a family owned dealer and they are very helpful.

Go to another dealer, no way do you have to get service there, just becuase you bought it there! Plenty of other dealerships would be more than willing to take GMs money to fix your car, move on buddy.

I bought my car in Maine and take my car in for work in Sunnyvale with no problems.
I vowed never to go back to Courtesy again. One day I went on the lot to scan over their Vettes. A salesman came up to me asking if he could help me. I said I was just looking/browsing. He just about kicked me off the lot and saying I was wasting his time. (when i didn't want his time in the first place)

Talk to Richie at Fairfield Chevrolet. He replaced my roof without any problem. It is worth the drive to get it done right the first time. Get a new roof, the fixes doesn't work.

Last time I went there (just for an oil change) when I picked up the car there appeared more grease/oil on the fenders then in the car.

Since I picked it up late in the day, no wash. I called and complained and they offered a car wash next time I brought it in. Needless to say, I went straight to the car wash from the dealership and took care of it myself.

Haven't been back since (nor needed to go back), I'm taking mine to Fairfield.

My transparent roof creaking allot and it turned out to be the latch that needed a little lube job. Took a couple minutes to fix and hasn't made any noises since. Might be worth looking at.

Good luck.

The dealers get compensated by the manufacturer for the warranty work (since it is a manufacturer's warranty), so they don't mind you bringing in a car they didn't sell to you. When I had a business in Pleasanton, I bought my Camaro from Carl Chevrolet in San Jose. I hated Crown Chevrolet in Dublin (crappy service department), so I took my Camaro to Tri Valley Buick, Pontiac, GMC for warranty service. Never a problem and the work was always done correctly.

Thanks for the support guys. Wew would be happy to help you out. There is a good chance that it has nothing to do with the roof delaminating. It is more then likely the front guide pins squeeking and popping. There is a TSb out for the exact complaint and we have fixed a ton of them. Here is a copy of the TSB. Let me know if we can help you out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DO THIS
DON'T DO THIS

Replace the plastic guide.
DO NOT replace the roof handles.

Condition 1
Some customers may comment on a creak or popping noise in the roof near the windshield area.

Condition 2

Replace the left and right plastic guide in the roof latch striker following the procedure below. (Note that the latch is on the headliner, next to the "A" pillar.)
Unlatch and remove the roof.

Install the new plastic guides into the striker.
Install the roof.
Correction 2
Install flocking tape and shim stock to the following areas

Thanks for the info guys!

Oddly enough after posting this, I got a call from Courtesy Chevrolet and they said they will replace my roof. I wonder if they troll the forum...haha.

Wow this sucks...for us C5 guys the only issue we had with our roof is not locking it down (Flying Roof Club)...yup I'm a member...

Anyhow I agree with others, the warranty yes you can take it to another Chevy dealer and either one of them should help you out.

Good luck,
- Eric

Hey Jason I got my Vette at Courtesy as well, but I take it to Boardwalk for all of the warranty work. You can go anywhere though, it won't matter. Good luck with the roof!

DON'T bring it to Courtesy. Worst service department I've ever been to. If you ever buy a car there, though, Bill Kojack is the only person I'd talk to. He's a Corvette man, himself, who likes doing track days. Between my friends and I he's sold us 7+ vehicles.

Bill got laid off about a month ago.

If you want good service in the service department, deal with Sandy Harris and tell her David Wilson sent you.
