Default Anybody Going to the Laguna Seca Historic Road races March 14 -16?

I'll be there.... Not racing though. I don't have my Full Competition SCCA license yet. Anyway I'll be doing mechanic work and pit crew for the six cars that we are bringing. I think it is three Ferrari's, one Lola T-70, Jag Lister, and a 1966 GT-40.

Here is just a couple of pics.

I must be a little older than you. I actually saw it raced before it was banned. Something like a 35 HP 2cycle motor sucking all the air out from under the car. Add a ton of down force at all speeds - not just high speed where a wing increases down force. It could whip all the competition with 3 "G" or something turns.

So a good idea get banned and racing has progressed in other ways like F1 with ground effects cars and wings all over the body.

I remember reading about those, they also utilized this technology in the indy car circuit and was banned two years later. Innovation during that era was certainly far more entertaining then they clone cars we have now. To many rules man...

I'm old enough that I saw most of the various cars that Hall built race. Jim Hall and Dan Gurney were both very creative when it came to aerodynamics. The old Can-Am series and the original Trans-Am series are stil the best two road racing series this country has ever had.

Will be down for the Historics in August and probably the "Wine Country Historics" at Infineon.
