Anyone know of a reputable reccommended one in the area or somewhere in the state? Looking for a good pup. I have one hookup but the breeder is in Redding, just seeing if there's anything closer.

I know you will think I'm pulling your leg but Jane bird tests the dogs before she sells them. Pets go to owners that want pets and hunting dogs go to hunters.
I helped with the testing of my pups litter.
I bought my last pup from her and was the best I've had out of four. Of course the other three made me a better owner so they should improve as you do.
I'm not sure she is still in the business but I will do some research tomorrow.

I have used Phil Mueller at Feather Ranch Kennels in Los Banos for over 15 years. He is both breeder and trainer. He and his wife Debbie are top of the line nice people. Not a puppy mill. Great facilities. They have web site. Take a look. Tell them Roger Sanger referred you.
Good luck with the search. If you run across any trainers that train Golden Retrievers for hunting let me know. Got a puppy for Christmas and would like to see if he can become a hunting dog.

ParamedicC5 was looking for a dog one time, told him to rescue an older dog, instead bought a puppy and then could not handle a puppy and sold it.
At least if he would adopted, he would of known what he was getting in temperment. Just my opinion. I can go on and on why it is better to rescue and blah blah blah.
The links I posted are good links. You should just think about it. You go visit a puppy and you want to take him home because he is cute. You go visit a rescue dog, you will take him home because the rescue knows he is going to a good home. If you take your time, you will find the greatest dog out there for you.
