Default Looking for a nice garden to study in the Bay Area. (Perfer East Bay) Botanical

Looking to try and kill two birds with one stone. I really want to make the Hooters meet on sunday, but the wife needs to complete a study on a Botanical Garden. We have yet to take the Z on a nice cruise and figured this was my chance. Since Hooters in in Dublin something remotely close would be great. After reading my wifes agenda it looks like we need a Botanical Garden of sorts. Thanks guys.

P.S Gilroy Gardens is out I hate that place and it is way to fair. The teacher recommended places like Standford University...

There is a fine, widely varied selection of WEEDS in my botanical back yard 'garden'. Want to get a quick workout in? There's a couple huge tractor tires to flip/toss around. Want to wrench a bit? Get my ice cream truck...yes..u read it right....running again. ; )

Or u can pick up the cig butts Arnel and Jerome left. j/k !! ^5

That's on Hwy 9 so you can kill 2 birds w/1 Vette right there.

There's also the Ruth Bancroft Gardens in Concord.

http://www.ruthbancroftgarden.org/

My wife's a Landscape Designer and, as she puts it, she is "Horticulturally Obsessed", and is also something of a rare plant collector. She also volunteers with a few garden organizations in puting together garden tours. She has one coming up soon that will include a couple of very well-known metal artists' shops (Mark Bullwinkle and Bruce Beasley) who specialize in garden art. These guys NEVER open their shops to the public, so this is a rare opportunity. I may go on the garden tour just to check out the metal shops. I think this one is a fundraiser for an organization called "OBUGS" (Oakland Based Urban Gardens). She is also very active with a group called the "Horti-Sexuals". Cec (my wife) would also probably be the best source for info on Bay Area gardens, both public and private.

If you"re wife's intersted, PM me and I can pass on Cec's contact info.

You need to get out of the closet and realize if it has a "bush" it is not cared properly and I want nothing to do with it.

On a serious note Dave and everyone else thanks a bunch for the leads. The Concord gardens might be my best bet. I am going to look into it now. If open on Sunday we can stop in and my wife can do her homework, afterwards I can meet you clowns at Hooters and do homework of my own.

Here is one more in Tilden Park in the Eastbay. I remember my wife used to go there when we lived in El Sobrante.

Damn Ruth Bancroft Gardens was perfect and are closed on sunday . I am trying to stay away from san Jose area and Oakland area. I do not feel like traveling all that way for some plants. HAHA Concord, Dublin, Walnut Creek are all right there.

Priorities mang...you're traveling for Hwy 9, Skyline, Hwy 84, Pesadereo Road, even a little jaunt to Big Basin.....on another KILLER road..and it just so happens the gardens are nearby.
