12-6-07 Laguna Seca Field Report
Bryan went up with me this morning, it was a little cool but it didn't look as if it would rain. I think there was only a total of 5 Vettes there, including myself. Jeff(JJMURFS) was there in his 06 Z06, another newer silver Z06, a lookalike Z06 and another C4. The first session was uneventful, a lot of traffic and my pressures were high; I did turn some 1:52's. The next session was only 3 laps, a Subaru STI crashed in turn 4 and totaled it. Shortly after this the weather started to turn bad and it started to shower; luckily it stopped prior to my third solo session, my best was a 1:48.8 behind a fast M3 powered older BMW and Jeff's instructor driven Z06(Jeff, did you say he did a 1:46.1?) It was good fun but the brake pedal started to get long toward the end. The next session I went out with Bryan behind the Ferrari F430 Challenge racecar, I was able to stay with him for a handful of laps because I was much faster from the corkscrew thru turn 11(he was wanking it thru there) but the Ferrari was so fast on the straights that horsepower prevailed. I had a number of laps in the 1:49.0 range and passed the M3 that finished third overall in the 2003(?) daytona 24 hours and the placed highly in the One Lap of America(it was all written on his tractor trailer, but I don't remember the specifics; the car may have done all that but I doubt he was driving it at the time!) He was very tough to pass because he had a lot of horsepower and would not give me a break down the straitaway, but I took him deep into turn 2 and outbraked him anyway. Two laps later an instructor driven 911 did the same thing to me and I returned the favor braking into the Andretti hairpin. C4's just don't get any respect! By this time the brake pedal started to get soft, the power steering started to crap out and it began to sprinkle. That is how it ended. I now need to figure out if it the power steering pump or the rack that is broken and fix the brakes. Another great day!

Sidney, glad you had a good day and got in some fast laps. It went
wet here about 8:30 and has stayed that way ever since so it is hard
to tell what is happening 100 miles south. Hope to see you at a track
soon.

Hi Sidney
It was great meeting you at Laguna Seca. I can't wait to go back, I was getting faster by the end of the day and did a 1:49:6 (i'm getting closer to you). But I usually do 1-2 fast laps then some slower ones so I really need to work on my consistancy. My friend did a 1:46:1 in my car (and a bunch real close to that).
Have a great holiday season!!!!

Hey Jeff,
It was nice meeting you.
It was fun talking to you. We both also got to see that hi tech skateboard flip that poor kid onto the ground.

Bryan,
It was nice meeting you and Sidney. I had a great time there. We laughed about the Ford that lost a wheel and my friend singing "YOU PICKED A FINE TIME TO LEAVE ME LOOSE WHEEL"
Now I can't stop thinking about that song
