Ok, Heres my deal. On my DD I had tint and no front plate, got a ticket for that. No big deal, I took the tint off, ordered a bracket for the front plate, and it just came in 2 days ago. Well, heres the problem. I installed the front plate, and I've been looking for 2 days, but I haven't found a cop to sign me off yet. The ticket is due tomorrow. I also seem to have misplaced my ticket.
I had this ticket since the begging of the month, but haven't been able to fix it yet because of the front plate bracket. They only gave me about 20-25 days (can't remember how long exactly) to fix this.
Here are a couple questions I got.
#1, Where can I look for a cop to sign me off?
#2, Do I need the original ticket to be signed off?
Just looking for some advice, Even if one of you guys are a local cop, and willing to sign me off, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
DOH! My brother in law is a cop but there is no way I am going to be able help you by tomorrow. I think you best bet is to traffic court and find a cop there. I believe traffic court is the same place you have to mail in your proof of correction and the $10.
You can go to any police station, CHP office or contact any officer on the street but I think you'll need your citation copy in order to get it signed off.
I'm not sure what you can do if you've lost it. Maybe go to the PD, CHP Office where the officer was from who wrote it and ask for a photocopy or go to the Muni Court Clerk to get a duplicate. Try making a telephone call to the agency or court clerk's office and ask what you need to do.
Problem is, most CHP stations are closed by the time I get out of work, and I can't seem to find an officer for the life of me that isn't going in the other direction.

I got a ticket for the very same thing no front licence plate. Called the court traffic department and got an extension. Then you goto dmv and they will sign off the ticket. You have to go where they give the drivers training and just get in line. They can sign it off they did for me.
Awe man, you should be able to go to the police station in the city you got the ticket and ask for advice on how to handle this. The last time i got a "fix it" ticket I was told in my city they didn't sign off other city's fix it tickets...saying this just in case you live in a differnt city.
Good luck
A police officer pulls a guy over for speeding (in his C5) and has the following exchange:
Officer: May I see your driver's license?
Driver: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.
Officer: May I see the registration for this vehicle?
Driver: It's not my car. I stole it.
Officer: The car is stolen?
Driver: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.
Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the blonde ^&%*# who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.
Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?
Driver: Yes, sir. Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain. The car was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:
Captain: Sir, can I see your license?
Driver: Sure. Here it is. It was valid.
Captain: Whose car is this?
Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the registration. The driver owned the car.
Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in it?
Driver: Gun ? What gun ?? ...there's no gun in it. Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.
Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there's a body in it
Driver: I said what ???? Trunk is opened; no body.
Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole the car, had a gun in the glove box, and that there was a dead body in the trunk.
Driver: Yeah - And I'll bet the lying SOB told you I was speeding, too!
The preference is to find a cop who will sign it off WITHOUT fixing the tint or front plate!
Interesting today I was on the freeway actually going 65 after taking it up to around 75-80 on the long straight on ramp talking on the phone not paying attention to anyone next to me and then noticed a moto officer right next to me when he hit his horn. He motioned for me to roll my limo tinted window down. He then gave me sort of a hand signal of an ok after I did and he went on his way. I saw him up ahead looking into every persons window as he passed. I think he was checking for seat belts only.
Well the car is my DD, I dont feel like putting up with this crap all the time.
Anyway, Thanks to allot of the advice on this board, I called a CHP station, and they had a receipt of my ticket. Got that signed off, and dropped off the ticket personally to the court this morning.
I'm gonna let you all in on a secret...nobody checks the LEO's name and ID (badge) # for authenticity.
(Keep this between us)
Correct...but when you get a 2nd ticket for the same thing such as tint put back on and plate removed again, Ive known certain agencies look into who signed of the first offense and now the same offense ticketed again (rare but it does happen). A family member had 7 or 8 fix it tickets on various cars over the last year for same repeat things (tint and plates) all signed off by the same person and was questioned about it at one time how the same infractions on the same vehicles over and over were being signed off, but no big deal.
