What's the word on SJ Courtesy Chevy's service dept?
Any horror stories with San Jose Courtesy Chevy's service dept?
Just looking to get brakes, smog, and a 50k service done on my '01, figured I'd ask around about that place before I swap rides with my dad (mmm, black XLR) and have him take the '01 to a dealership by his office in Fremont instead.
I have had couple bad experiences, now I have gone to Boardwalk Chevrolet.Courtesy has a great customer service but the guys in the shop are lousy. They had overlooked uneven wear on my front tire through two services. Only me finding that one of my front tires have worn down to edges where I could see white thread and that is just one week after their service.
I am taking my C6 to Sunnyvale Chevrolet this week to give them another shot at fixing a dash rattle and to see if they can figure out what is causing a rattle behind the passenger's seat.
If they can't fix it, I planned to try Courtesy myself.
I was not satisfied with the service department at Boardwalk.
I have had good luck with the Service Dept at Crown in Dublin. I would never buy anything from them though. To this day they are marking up cars over MSRP.
I had the noise comming from my diif and told the service mgr what needed to get done. He listened then verified I was right(thanks to forum info) when I picked up the car. The fix was done ok. Nothing special but they got the job done, I just had this feeling that they were not corvette people. The guy didn't know about the tech bulletin that refered to my problem. To their credit the mgr called me and asked to voice my opinion which I did, not sure if it did any good but thats my story.
I've had ALL my warranty work done at Courtesy and had great luck every time. I exclusively get Sandy Harris as my service advisor, and she always takes care of me. Tell her David Wilson says hello. You can also tell her I'll have a new car for her to fix soon enough
I don't know about smog but David at Northstar in Mt. View can do warranty work. There's probaly not much David doesn't know about Corvettes of all ages.

I thought you had to take the car to the dealer for warranty work.
I've had them do warranty work before, they fixed it in a timely fashion and was very easy to deal with. No maintenance though.
When my dad's buddy had a 03 Z, that he took to Courtesy. I remember him telling me he took it in to fix a dif leak, and some other warranty stuff. I forget why, but the service manager took him to see his car getting worked on. And it was up on a lift with no jack/lift pucks! My dad's buddy hit the roof! No damage was done, but he started taking it to Los Gatos Chevy after that.

Los Gatos Chevy still in business? When Anderson had to sell that one off to operate Courtesy, I thought they closed.

Yes Los Gatos Chevrolet is still open. Anderson sold it to AutoNation in the mid-late 90's, along with the Menlo Park and Cupertino dealerships. AutoNation ran both Menlo Park and the Cupertino Anderson Chevrolet dealerships to the ground and closed them. Los Gatos has not had anything to do with John Anderson in any way since then. Anderson didn't have any Chevrolet dealerships again until buying Courtesy Chevrolet in mid 2003.
I had some warranty work done there. I had a leak in the rear shaft. There was some discrepancies about the work but it was all taken care of and they even gave me a rental and a lunch ticket. So I was very happy. I didn't at first speak with Sandy but she turned out to be ok in my book. Very serious about her work though!
